Job Description:

Shell Trading has implemented a robust compliance program to support our regulatory requirements, including monitoring & surveillance (M&S) of trading activity and business communications. The Compliance M&S Analyst role will be responsible for identifying, researching, and resolving potential compliance risks, ensuring appropriate escalation if necessary.

Responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing, prioritizing, and analyzing trade monitoring alerts, business communication alerts, and external market commentary alerts

  • Identifying potential areas of risk for further inquiry or escalation

  • Proposing and testing improvements to trade monitoring tools

  • Proposing and testing changes to business communication monitoring criteria

  • Keeping team and management informed of relevant CFTC, FERC, and Exchange (CME, ICE) enforcement actions and market manipulation rule changes

Requirements:

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university

  • 5+ years of experience in a trading, compliance, risk control, or trading support role

  • Excellent knowledge of North American physical/financial energy markets required

  • Knowledge of North American gas and power markets preferred

  • Strong understanding of trading instruments, trading strategies, and risk concepts

  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills including the ability to interact with all levels of staff and management

  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem solving and communications skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Team-oriented with the ability to work independently

  • Must be proficient with MS Excel, with macro/scripting skills a plus

  • Proficiency in Spotfire or comparable applications is preferred
