US Pricing Strategy Analyst – Houston, TX

This is one of the key roles in Retail in developing commercially minded leaders. The Pricing Analyst will perform a variety of operational and analytical functions seeking value added and growth opportunities while maintaining/growing volume performance across the US. The pricing analyst role provides first hand exposure to Shell leadership teams across the entire retail organization.
During this role, the individual will have an opportunity to build knowledge and understanding of Shell business, processes, financial impact, brand value, marketing programs, pricing and supply as follows;
Perform deep dive analytical studies across assigned pricing regions to identify value added opportunities with proposed actions;
Propose new pricing strategies to the GMs, Sales Managers and the Pricers.
Perform market rides in the assigned pricing areas for market and competitors insights.
Work closely with marketing teams during campaigns and promotions.
Identify price positioning for bio grades and newly introduced grades in the market.
Carry out analytical pricing reviews, including elasticity studies, identifying market changes, value erosions, volume drops and changes in competitors’ behaviors.
Collaborate with teams across the FSM & T&S businesses seeking end to end opportunities.
Hold annual pricing strategy reviews with sales, finance, pricing, supply and demand teams for the assigned pricing regions.
Prepare and distribute monthly pricing reports providing overview of monthly business performance.
Analyze historical trend, research external data and market intelligence to maximize business results.
Assist/lead regional pricing projects & confidential projects.
This role will give the incumbent the successful skillset and applicable experience to transform the organization. Following this role, ideally, the candidate may be assigned to a Wholesale Territory Manager position within a region.

Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
Bachelor’s Degree required; concentration in Business, Finance, Economics or any related field.
Minimum 6 years of experience in pricing, strategy or other data driven role.
Experience in economics, data analytics or statistics is an advantage.
Proficiency with reporting software such as GSAP, Data Warehouse, MS Suite, Spotfire, Tableau and Alteryx is a plus.
Experience in Petroleum downstream or any related industry preferred.
Must demonstrate business acumen, able to balance the short-term benefits and long-term perspective.
Must have excellent analytical and quantitative skills, able to dive into data to identify issues, patterns and solve problems creatively.
Strong work ethic complemented by a positive, can-do attitude.
