AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Mechanical Engineer II for immediate employment in the Hunt Valley, MD office. Come join our dynamic team of professional engineers and be a part of engineering solutions for our clients.
The Mechanical Group is responsible for the design of HVAC, Plumbing, Utilities and Fire Protection for various buildings and facilities ranging from Airport Terminals to K-12 schools. The Hunt Valley, MD office is a center of excellence for Aviation and as such performs work at BWI, Reagan National and other airports around the United States. The Mechanical group consists of approximately 7 team members and this position will report to the Mechanical Group Leader.
The office in Hunt Valley, MD employs a multi-discipline team containing Architects, Electrical, Structural Engineers as part of the Building + Places Business line. The group interacts with many of the surrounding offices in the region and beyond, providing engineering assistance to those offices that require our specialized skills to achieve their client goals. This position will interact with other departments within the office through meetings and project collaboration, while interacting with various discipline project managers.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Position will work with Junior, Senior Engineers and Project managers to prepare systems designs and evaluations for various client projects
Analysis of systems designs and applications
Building Load and energy modeling using Trane Trace Software
Evaluate feasibility of alternative design approaches in conjunction with senior team members
Perform site/ field visits to ascertain existing conditions including equipment condition evaluations
Perform Construction Administration services, including review of shop drawings, RFI’s and review of contractor proposed change orders
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
2+ years of Mechanical design experience
Strong knowledge in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, CADD and computer skills to include Word and Excel
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to successfully interact with others
AutoCad and Microsoft Office computer skills, BIM/ Revit experience
Must have strong mathematical skills and spatial awareness
Willingness to work in multiple engineering and engineering-related disciplines
Must have good time management skills, a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and most importantly, a strong desire to learn
Must be able to work overtime as project schedules dictate
Must be available to travel as needed to meet project requirements
3+ years of Mechanical design experience
Prior experience working in an Engineering firm preferred
