Preferred Qualifications

As a

System Administrator 4, you will be responsible for the definition, design, and

implementation of tools and solutions within a fast-paced, leading edge

database/applications company supporting the Oracle PDIT Development

infrastructure. Oracle provides software

for many customers who run on IBM Z.

Development Operations for Engineering IT provides support for

development and testing across multiple IBM Z servers running multiple

operating systems with associated software.

You will be responsible for creating and implementing system

enhancements to the IBM Z (mainframe) environments that will improve the

performance and reliability for all the areas noted below.

The

role requires managing the disparate workloads of multiple IBM Z servers in

complex configurations. Extensive

problem solving across all aspects of the IBM Z configurations including

analysis of development generated issues and problems. People skills are required to work with IBM,

engineering support and development organizations identifying and solving

problems.

You

will need extensive knowledge IBM Z hardware including the servers and disk

storage. It also requires networking

experience from the operating down to linux hosts. Disk management is required for both z/OS

using DFSMS as well as z/VM ECKD and FCP storage both for the operating system

as well as the linux hosts.

TechnicalRequirements:

IBM Z

  • Understand and use IBM’s Z HMC for:

Daily operation of IBM Z servers

Configuring system information including LPARs

Work with the CFCC LPAR

Manage and use internal consoles for different operating systems

Detailed Description and Job Requirements

Define, design, and implement network communications and solutions within a fast-paced, leading edge database/applications company.

Responsible for creating and implementing system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliablility of the system. Manage the load configurations of a central data communication processor and make recommendations for purchase or upgrade of data networks. Coordinate terminal orders and cable installation, network system planning, upgrading, monitoring, testing, and servicing. Approves action requests and specifies purchase requisitions. Negotiates and places orders with common carriers. May play a team leader role for developing System Administrators.

Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Eight years of related experience in a medium to large network distributed and computing environment. BS in Computer Science or related field.
