Preferred Qualifications

Qualifications and experience

  • College degree in a related field such as English, Technical Communications, Engineering, or Computer Science

  • At least 2-3 years of previous technical writing experience

  • Strong research, analysis, and writing skills

  • Demonstrated ability to write clearly and concisely using correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation

  • Ability to write conceptual, task-oriented, and reference documentation

  • Experience interpreting technical specifications, configuration files, code, and other technical documents as source material

Technical and tools knowledge

  • Ability to learn new products and technologies and to grasp technical material

  • Exposure to standard documentation tools for documentation delivery mechanisms (such as online Help and PDFs)

  • Exposure to software development tools and processes, including design, development, and quality assurance a plus

  • Knowledge about the Insurance industry a plus

Soft skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Good planning and organization skills

  • Independence and good judgment, positive attitude, and an innovative spirit

  • Ability to work with cross-functional global teams, including developers, peers, architects, and editors in remote locations

Detailed Description and Job Requirements

Creates, develops, plans, writes and edits operational, instructional, maintenance, test or user manuals for paper, multimedia or web-based publications. Contributes to the timely design, production and delivery/completion of product documentation and document sets.

As a member of the technical writing division, you will write, review and produce single books or individual chapters, appendices, etc. of product user documentation and/or courseware. Obtain data and information from the appropriate source e.g. technical staff and exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.

Duties and tasks are standard with some variation; displays understanding of roles, processes and procedures. Performs moderately complex problem solving with assistance and guidance in understanding and applying company policies and processes. BS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 1 year of software engineering or related experience.
