Responsible for executing work under the direction of the housekeeping supervisor and the requests of the house supervisor, in emergency situations.
Performs all required safety related procedures related to the safety of self or others such as proper use of detergents, germicides, or other supplies.
Follows recommended handling/mixing procedures, proper storage of chemicals and supplies, use of wet floor signs, etc.
Cleans patient rooms, surgical areas, offices and waiting areas using cleaning chemicals and disinfectants.
Cleans and sanitize floors, equipment and furniture according to infection-control policies.
Operates various types of cleaning equipment.
Handles and disposes of waste using standard procedures.
Cleans mattresses and beds according to established procedures.
Collect dirty laundry and places in designated locations.
Distributes clean linen and hospital gowns.
Maintains a clean and neat cart, closet, and equipment.
Monitors inventory of supplies such as paper towels, soap, and toilet paper.
Reports needed equipment repairs to Supervisor.
Reports needed building repairs to Supervisor.
Able to change workload according to stat calls/department needs.
Performs additional duties in different areas of the department/hospital on an as-needed basis.
Communicates well with co-workers, management, employees and physicians.
Minimum Requirements: (Educational and job experience requirements. Knowledge, skills, abilities)
High school graduate or equivalent
Skill in reading and following written and oral instruction
Experience in housekeeping preferred.
