_Manager of Intern Onboarding and Retention_ _Medical City Healthcare Division_
The Manager of Intern Onboarding and Retention is responsible for the development, management and delivery of onboarding and retention strategies for Registered Nurses. This includes but is not limited to clinical education, nursing orientation, recruitment activities, and division-wide continuing professional education and professional practice. The primary goal of this position is to increase Registered Nurse retention through nursing and clinical staff education and professional development. The Manager of Intern Onboarding and Retention will collaborate with the Clinical Education and Professional Practice team to develop innovative and engaging strategies that are consistent with HCA’s nursing agenda. This position demonstrates a high degree of responsibility, accountability and autonomy.
• Ensure efficient and effective delivery of quality educational programs to new cohorts of nurses and current staff to drive retention. • Participates in the assessment of the clinical education resources and development of outstanding service line programs to support ongoing evaluation and advancing the clinical competency of staff in Medical City Healthcare. • Participates in recruitment activities. • Makes recommendations on resources needed for successful onboarding. • Actively participates in the Continuing Education Provider Unit for Nursing (ANCC). • Provides support for implementation of evidenced based practice findings and implements resources including Lippincott Nursing Procedure and Skills, New England Journal of Medicine and EBSCO Host. • Supports all clinical education and professional practice team efforts. • Works collaboratively with Corporate, Division and facility leadership, and in particular nursing, human resources, leadership & organizational development, and IT&S. • Participates in nursing and clinical educational summits as directed by department leadership. • Promotes programs for clinical staff to obtain national certifications. • Supports division-wide Magnet and/or Pathway to Excellence achievement and sustainability. • Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of division-wide professional development programs. • Collaborates on the development, implementation and evaluation of retention activities across the division. • Establishes ongoing relationships with new nurses and maintains communication and contact throughout HCA tenure. • Promotes and facilitates professional development to include transitions in practice, changes in specialty, and career ladder achievements.
_Qualifications_ _ _ * BSN required * Master’s degree in Clinical Field, Education or Healthcare Administration preferred * Texas RN license * National certification required within 6 months of hire, with preference in nursing executive leadership or education/staff development * 5 years minimum of experience in hospital-based clinical specialty 2-5 years in education, organizational development, clinical leadership, hr management or related field * History of progressive leadership positions and abilities
