Oracle Software Development Director in Irving, Texas

Manage a team that designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a director of the software engineering division, you will apply your extensive knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and envision future improvements to the architecture.

Assists in the development of short, medium, and long term plans to achieve strategic objectives. Regularly interacts across functional areas with senior management or executives to ensure unit objectives are met. Ability to influence thinking or gain acceptance of others in sensitive situations. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.

Oracle Retail is helping our customers transform their businesses for the cloud, with new Cloud Service offerings that support the most demanding mission-critical customer requirements, operating securely at cloud scale.

We are looking for a strong customer-focused director with operations, support or implementation experience who will partner across multiple teams to ensure availability and operation of cloud services for our customers. Your team will play a direct role in troubleshooting and resolving issues, improving our operational visibility, devising support procedures and ensuring that we are always focused on our customers first. As part of the broader cloud engineering organization, you will act as the voice of the customer to influence product features and plans to improve the customer experience. This role is critical to the success of our short and long term customer relationships and for the overall success of our cloud services.

Responsibilities

  • Hire, lead and retain a world class organization staffed with top notch engineers with expertise in infrastructure, systems architecture, and software disciplines to significantly improve our capabilities, including but not limited to production delivery, mean time to resolution of any and all disruptions and next level insights and debuggability of products and services at runtime.

  • Help define the overall career ladder, training programs and performance measurement of the operations function within Oracle Retail Cloud Engineering.

  • Lead efforts across multiple teams to build processes, systems and services that improve operational efficiency, increase velocity of product delivery, and drive reliability, scale and performance across the Oracle Retail SaaS solutions

  • Build and maintain excellent relationships with customers and achieve high customer satisfaction to minimize customer churn

  • Lead and drive focus on proactive improvements in the reliability and availability in the Oracle Retail Cloud to reduce the customer outage time and reduce cost in outage remediation

  • Manage a globally distributed organization in the pursuit of not only follow the sun operations, but taking advantage of the best talent across the world in delivering the Cloud Engineering mission

  • Influence your peers in product development to consider industry leading patterns and practices in the creation of high scale cloud products and services

  • Provide visibility into operational metrics for executive management to improve organizational understanding of our performance and the customer’s experience

Qualifications

  • A degree in Computer Science, MIS or another technical field or 10 years of equivalent broad engineering experience.

  • Demonstrated experience leading global scale enterprise cloud operations and engineering.

  • Customer focus with a passion for delighting customers

  • Previous Director level experience managing diverse technical teams both in operations and automation
