Summary

McKesson US Distribution is seeking to add a Vice President, Corporate Strategy and Business Development who will work with broader leadership and other Corporate Strategy & Business Development (CSBD) team members to develop and implement the business unit’s growth strategy. This individual is responsible for identifying, evaluating and managing new business opportunities and will work across the US Distribution portfolio contributing to multiple business segments. This role will oversee the planning, design, and implementation of innovative business initiatives by designing visions, strategies, and tactics to address market shifts in order to optimize McKesson's competitive position. The Vice President, CSBD will report directly to the Senior Vice President, CSBD of US Distribution.

Position Description

  • Participates as a core member of, the USDistribution leadership team

  • Leads annual strategic planning review, makingadjustments to the strategy as necessary, and support the development of thebusiness unit’s long-range plan and annual budget process

  • Identifies strategic needs and new growthopportunities, establishes strategic plans and objectives, and prioritizesareas of focus

  • Defines and manages multiple and complex strategicprojects towards high quality deliverables and timelines

  • Manages a team of direct and indirect reports

  • Ensures frameworks incorporate broader strategicconsiderations

  • Manages expectations and results for BU leadershipteam and executive-level BU stakeholders

  • Leads interactions involving controversialsituations, customer negotiations, or influencing and persuading other seniorlevel managers

  • Leads M&A / Business Development process,including base-case vs. synergy case modeling, valuation work, and targetengagement experience in coordination with corporate M&A, FP&A and thebusiness unit

  • Acts as executive level thought-partner for majorstrategic considerations

  • Applies advanced analytics to support strategicstory

  • Occasionaltravel, approximately 20% - 40%

Minimum Requirements

  • 10 years business development and/or strategyexperience

  • 7 years managerial experience

  • Ability to develop strategy and manage initiativesby applying Business Unit context and by understanding the interests andconcerns of key stakeholders across the enterprise and value to inform a broad,McKesson-wide viewpoint

  • Leads and influences others with or without formalauthority or people management responsibilities

  • Manages stakeholders and complex processes

  • Experience working in aStrategy/Business Development role within either a large Consulting firmworking on complex Retail strategy based projects or within a large, complexRetail organization

  • Healthcare industry experience with a strongunderstanding of key industry stakeholders and a particular understanding ofhealthcare services businesses

  • Fluent in the language and business dynamics of McKesson

  • Communication

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to develop rapportand credibility across the organization, promote ideas and proposalspersuasively

  • Builds credibility and demonstrates comfort in working with andpresenting to senior executive

Education

  • 4-year Bachelor's degree in business, finance orrelated field, or equivalent experience. MBA preferred
