The purpose of the Production Attendant Extra is to rotate to various jobs within the Mottle, Furnish, Tile Lines, Shipping crews as needed to provide backup assistance or coverage of other operators during needed or voluntary absences. A Production Attendant Extra performs the duties of the missing associate as directed by the supervisor.


  • Mottle and Tile Line Line – weigh material, charge material into mixers, control blanket gauge, clean out jams on line, inspect blanket for proper shade or other detected defect, control speed of mill and conveyor to maintain proper gauge and blanket conditions, monitor level of furnish in the surge hopper, clean waxing discs, clean heater feeder and surge hopper area at the end of shift, inspect tile for proper shade, dispose of defective pieces of tile, check gauge of tile, check glue heads.

  • Shipping – operate Logisticon system, run off manifests, keep log of shipments and UPS pickups, print pallet tags and place on appropriate pallets, organize orders into separate shipments and stops, receive raw materials.

  • If training is needed for an associate and the production attendant extra is proficient in that area, the attendant extra will be used to train that employee.


Essential Functions of the Job: Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:

  • Must possess shift and schedule flexibility of regular time (any shift that may include off-hours and/or weekends), and overtime, as needed

  • Be able to work with others in a team environment

  • Train on and learn all non-leadership production jobs as required or requested

  • Ability to lift 65 pounds floor to waist

  • Must possess the ability to perform basic math and operate a calculator

  • Operate mobile equipment from 10% to 90% of scheduled shift depending on work assignment

  • Fill-in for other operators as needed

  • Monitor equipment which includes monitoring gauges, operation of controls, visual inspections, make adjustments, call in assistance, clear jams, maintain cleanliness of equipment

  • Inspect tile product visually for defect, measure and document to quality specifications to ensure compliance, record results, place bad tile or scrap onto scrap conveyor or into bin, documentation/recordkeeping (computer and handwritten)

  • Transfer materials manually or mobile equipment. Raw materials measurement and placement: maintain levels of raw materials, place materials into appropriate bins, set scales.

  • General Cleaning: Sweep, general pick-up around work area, clean up jammed tile; remove paper from bad tile to prepare for recycling, blow down equipment, trash removal, painting equipment

  • Tile Rework/Scrap: Relabeling of cartons, open boxes of tile and place tile on scrap conveyor, remove paper from back side of scrap tile, stick to another tile, place on scrap conveyor, manually transfer boxes between pallets (weight of a box of tile is approximately 35lbs to 65lbs)

  • Must possess the ability to perform basic math and operate a calculator

  • Participate in safety training and receive instruction through hands-on demonstration and/or classroom lecture, as required

  • Maintain a clean work area

  • H. S. Diploma / General Equivalency Degree (G.E.D.)

  • 1 year of manufacturing experience in a related environment or equivalent training and/or education preferred

  • Ability to communicate effectively

  • Basic computer skills with the ability to communicate effectively,

  • Demonstrate problem solving using arithmetic, and measuring devises for the ordinary operation problems encountered

  • Demonstrated ability to operate mobile equipment

  • General understanding and ability to operate forklift, sweeper or mobile equipment

  • Able to identify various materials and finished projects

  • Able to operate gauges, refill supplies, and monitor video images

  • Able to read, comprehend and comply with Job Safety Analysis and related safety requirements

Starting pay will be 13.81/hr and upon completion of a satifactory probationary period pay will increase to 19.71/hr
