The Charge Nurse for Oncology is responsible to the Director for the direct and indirect total nursing care of his/her assigned patients, ensuring delivery of quality patient care utilizing the nursing process. The quality of care given will be in keeping with the philosophy and objectives of the hospital and the department of Nursing. The Charge Nurse will maintain and support the standards of nursing care and practice in order to meet the health care needs of patients, their families and the community.
The Charge Nurse is a Registered Nurse who, in collaboration with the unit Director, coordinates all nursing care for the patients on the assigned unit and coordinates daily operations activities of the assigned unit.
The Charge Nurse prescribes, delegates and coordinates all nursing care provided to patients within the assigned unit.
The Charge Nurse is responsible for meeting all standards associated with performance, nursing practice and nursing care.
Graduated from an accredited school of nursing. Level entry training may be a Diploma Program in Nursing, an Associate Degree in Nursing or a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
American Heart Association BLS Health Care Provider
American Heart Association
Successful completion of an EKG recognition and treatment certification within 6 months of entering this position
At least one year of experience as staff nurse for full time and part time staff
