AECOM is seeking a Safety Specialist to be based in our Jersey City, New Jersey location.
This position will start as day shift but will move to night shift
Under limited supervision, responsible for moderately complex technical work in a wide range of environmental, safety and health disciplines to achieve compliance with ES&H standards along with federal and state regulatory requirements.
Maintains current knowledge of and assists with DOT reporting requirements.
Exhibits knowledge and applies the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures for the safety group.
Develops, implements and maintains safety and health programs, systems and procedures.
Investigates accidents, injuries, and complaints concerning hazards in the workplace.
Recommends improvements in processes, design, procedures and operating equipment to minimize hazards.
Provides regulatory interpretation and technical advice.
Assists with maintaining driver abstracts.
Will be required to respond to all emergencies during shift and as needed.
Will be responsible for incident investigations and post-accident drug testing during shift and as needed.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Health or Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering or demonstrated equivalent.
- 2 years of safety related experience required.
Board of Certified Safety Professionals, Safety Trained Supervisor Certificate (STS)
U.S. Department of Transportation Transit Safety and Security Program Certificate - Rail (TSSP)
This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.
