This position is responsible for managing the Company's employ relations, labor relations and legislative compliance functions. Designs and implements programs, policies, and practices to ensure that the Company is in compliance with country employment laws. Drive Continuous Process Improvement in line with laid down ER Strategy. The incumbent will drive process improvement projects by exercising governance oversight specifically in Case Management as well as in other areas such as policy management, building Organizational effectiveness & particularly driving adherence to legislative compliances.

The Director, ER shall also provide thought leadership for the development and furtherance of best practices, keeping abreast of emerging investigation and ER trends, and supporting innovation. The Director shall support the team by lending subject matter expertise, guidance, and adopting a continuous improvement mindset, to support all team members, contributing to an optimal employee experience for internal team members as well as all those we support. Responsibilities include mitigating legal risks, ensuring consistent application of policies and procedures and managing complex ER investigations while leveraging the expertise of the team. This leadership role should drive innovation and performance throughout the team and strive to ensure best practice investigation techniques and protocols. The Director will serve as a resource to Senior ER leadership. The Director will participate and contribute as part of the ER leadership team, effectively partnering and collaborating with peers in leadership across the ER function.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participate in strategic planning processes with ER leaders to arrive at ER roadmap for country
  • Oversee investigations in the country to ensure that they are properly conducted, documented and resolved
  • Lead & direct Regional teams on critical & sensitive ER processes - Downsizings, Mutual Termination Agreements, Severance processing etc , Merger &Acquisition
  • Collaborate with the Legal Services Team and management on cases going to Employment Tribunal
  • Reviewing regional case management statistics on a regular basis, ensuring potential trends or issues are identified for potential action or resolution
  • Provide employee relations and labor relations support, guidance and direction to the Human Resources organization and business leaders, with a particular emphasis on the administration of policies and compliance programs
  • Monitor legal developments to ensure compliance with Country, state and local employment laws
  • Collaborate with HR Leaders, Business Leaders, and Legal Department to develop and implement strategic employee relations initiatives that reduce the risk of litigation and improve employee the work environment
  • Ensure effective application of employment laws, rules and regulations. To the extent possible, facilitate the defensible resolution of workplace concerns informally and mitigate the number of issues that escalate to higher levels within or outside
  • Lead & support varied projects within the ER Transformation, Governance & Continuous Process Improvement agenda set per the APAC ER Strategy roadmap
  • Support the Business Human Capital Partners in strengthening ER engagement with the Managers and Employees
  • Provide advice to the pre-sales discovery team on varied matters while reviewing new business opportunities, and strategy to continue pipeline growth
  • Lead and direct stepwise enhancement of capability & maturity of processes & implement strategic ER processes in line with key business imperatives, specifically in the Case Management arena
  • Lead M&A initiatives by assessing business & employee impact and developing risk mitigation plans
  • Lead and direct regular Internal Audits for ER work streams in the region and work with respective teams on closure of action plans
  • Undertake periodic review of policies in accordance with changing statutory laws, business requirements & amendments
  • Engage and present to the ER Leadership work streams Teams/ Steering Committees on status of varied projects
  • Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). The Company may adopt, vary or rescind these policies and directives in its absolute discretion and without any limitation (implied or otherwise) on its ability to do so

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • The incumbent in a Supervisory role with lead a team of 9 - 12 resource to manage performance & resolve any noted skill deficiencies and arrange for appropriate action to be taken to address the problem

Required Qualifications:

  • Postgraduate in HR or Law with overall 20 years of experience with desired exposure of leading a team of Case Analysts & a definite Employee relations experience. Quality exposure to ER best practices with experience of working in an international company. The Individual should have sound knowledge of Labor Laws of India, Philippines, China, Singapore in particular
  • Thorough understanding of, and demonstrated ability to, effectively communicate legal implications of actions taken and the impact of those actions on the organizations interests
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, planning, and organizational skills are critical given the varied programmatic responsibilities included in the position
