Job Description:

The QRC AISR Group at Leidos currently has an opening for an Aerospace Stress Analysis Engineer to work in our Bridgewater, VA office. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the Leidos mission. In this mission, we provide aerial intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance platforms for today’s warfighter.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform static, linear structural analysis for modifications to FAR Part 23 and Part 25 aircraft.
  • Act as analysis lead for one or more programs concurrently. The analysis lead will ensure programmatic due dates are met and all systems have analysis coverage as applicable to include static structural analysis, damage tolerance analysis (DTA), Instructions for continued airworthiness (ICA), Aerodynamics and icing analysis, etc.
  • Analyze metals, non-metallic, and composite structures using both Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and classical hand calculation methodology.
  • Write structural test plans, test reports, and structural analysis reports.
  • Computer Aided Design (CAD) design/drafting.
  • Peer review and approve structural analysis reports and drawings of other engineers.
  • Review and approve design deviation requests and non-conformance reports throughout the production and integration phases.
  • Providing technical inputs to mechanical designs during all phases of the design.
  • Responsible for analysis and feedback multiple design projects simultaneously, utilizing sound project management principles to prioritize work to meet cost, schedule, and quality objectives.
  • Present analysis assumptions and results during internal and external design reviews and safety of flight review boards.
  • Represent the stress analysis team in integrated product teams and program meetings.
  • Mentor engineers in areas of stress analysis, design, and fabrication methods.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Structural Engineering with four (4) years of experience; additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Excellent communications skills to interface with customers and peers.
  • Familiarity with FEA and CAD software.
  • Strong knowledge in static/dynamic engineering mechanics.
  • Eligible to obtain minimum of Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient knowledge of FEMAP and SolidWorks.
  • CFD, damage tolerance, vibration, fatigue, and/or thermal analysis experience.
  • Experience with military airworthiness requirements.
  • Active Secret clearance.
  • Working knowledge of FAA rules and regulations.
  • Understanding of common manufacturing processes and practices.
  • Experience leading projects and/or teams.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $74,750.00 - $115,000.00 - $155,250.00
