Job Summary

The Quality Assurance Inspector (Airframes AV8) is required to perform all Quality Assurance for Scheduled and unscheduled maintenance in accordance with the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program Applicable T/M/S MIMS and technical publications and other governing instructions. Additionally, the candidate will perform NAMPSOP monitoring, quarterly audits, trend analysis, draft QA related Naval messages, notify government oversight personnel of all flight critical, safety of flight and mandatory QA inspections and perform accidental analysis/investigations as required.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Develops and implements quality control and ground safety programs to ensure compliance with contract specifications.
  • Inspects and verifies proper completion and documentation of safety and flight discrepancies. Briefs and debriefs pilots and crew members assigned to functional check flights.
  • Evaluates personnel, including verification of skills, training, and experience.
  • Performs audits and inspections of work centers and ongoing maintenance actions, procedures, equipment, and facilities. Monitors timelines and applicability of aircraft maintenance technical data and technical library.
  • Reviews maintenance source documents, aircraft inspection records, notes recurring discrepancies or trends and initiates appropriate action.
  • Manages the material deficiency and technical order improvement program.
  • Reviews engineering investigation requests, initiates and reviews quality deficiency reports, technical deficiency reports, and hazardous material reports, ensuring that they are accurate, clear, concise, and comprehensive.
  • Receives aircraft and explosive mishap reports and studies them for applicability Oversees aircraft weight and balance program. Conducts safety inspections, training, and drills.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must have completed a navy “QAR” school or USMC/USCG equivalent. Must also have been a CDI/CDQAR on T/M/S aircraft or equipment applicable to the position.
  • Must have a minimum of ten years’ experience on the applicable T/M/S aircraft or equipment, must have at least three years ‘experience as a QAR at the appropriate level (organization or Intermediate), and at least two years must have been on the appropriate T/M/S aircraft or equipment and have been within the past five years. Education cannot be substituted for experience.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.
  • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
  • Must be available to work any shift.
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintainer any company/government required licensing, qualification, certifications, or clearance for the position.
  • Must be available to work any shift.
  • Must have AV-8B aircraft maintenance experience.
  • Must be U.S. Citizen.

Preferred Qualifications

  • May work in aircraft maintenance hangar or outside.
  • May be required to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, including extreme weather conditions and rudimentary infrastructure.
  • May be exposed to extreme noise from turbine and jet engine aircraft.
  • May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles; may be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts, vehicles, or aircraft.
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
