Job Summary

The successful AV-8B Power Plants Aircraft Mechanic II services, repairs and overhauls aircraft to engines and engine components to ensure airworthiness. Repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft engines and related components of moderate difficulty, such as installation and removal of QEC gear, replacement of FMU, Fuel Controls, gear boxes utilizing hand tools and power tools. Reads and interprets manufacture’s publications, maintenance manuals, service bulletins and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components, inspects engine and engine components for fluid leaks, cracks and other damages. Troubleshoot, remove, replace and repair aircraft engine system components. Performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft systems. As directed by site operations and site management, may be certified as a CDI. Shall be able to correctly prioritize workload to maintain schedules and maintenance standards on assigned projects.

The candidate for this task is required to maintain and services the applicable aircraft engines and engine components as required in support of Air Test and Evaluation Squadron 31 RDT&E Programs in accordance with applicable publications and governing instructions.


Minimum Requirements

  • Must have completed the Navy Class "C" school in power plants and related systems for the position-specific T/M/S, or USMC/USCG equivalent. (5 years’ organizational level experience on the applicable position-specific T/M/S aircraft may be substituted for the Class “C” school.).
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Organizational Level Power Plant maintenance in similar T/M/S aircraft.
  • Must have Three (3) years' experience in the specific T/M required/ Series preferred aircraft.
  • Must have AV-8B aircraft maintenance experience.
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain government/company required clearance, qualifications, and certifications.
  • Must be available to work any shift.
  • Must be U.S. Citizen

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) of the required three (3) years type/model experience within the last three years is strongly preferred.
  • Engine turn qualified and Auxiliary Power Unit designed personnel shall be at a minimum level II mechanic.
  • May be required to become Plane Captain certified in accordance with approved certification process for each T/M/S applicable to their background.
