Aircraft Mechanic III (LUH72) A&P - FT Hood (TDY El Paso, TX)

Aircraft Mechanic III LUH-72 (FAA A&P) TDY El Paso Performs scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance.

  • Performs scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance, to include repairs, modifies aircraft structures, structural components and engines of complex to extreme difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components, and applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as; blue prints and manufactures manuals.

  • Shall possess the level of experience necessary to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by skill class Mechanic I and must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions.

  • Shall have a working knowledge of making entries in aircraft logbooks & records, military technical publications, and the Army's Unit Level Logistics Aviation Information System, ULLSAE.

  • Accomplishes inspections including, but not limited to preflight, thru-flight, basic post-flight, and phase inspections.

  • Launches and recovers aircraft as required.

  • Performs operational checks of all aircraft systems and maintains aircraft appearance and cleanliness.

  • Annotates maintenance actions in aircraft records/forms and completes associated CAMS entries.

  • Perform other qualified duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Requires a valid up-to-date A&P license AND Five (5) years aviation maintenance experience, Five (5) years rotary wing aircraft experience, and two years on the assigned (LUH-72) MDS.

  • All experience must be within the Ten (10) most recent years.

  • If no A&P license, shall have Five (5) years aviation maintenance experience, Five (5) years rotary wing aircraft experience, and Two (2) years on the assigned LUH-72 (MDS). All experience must be within the Ten (10) most recent years.

  • All mechanics assigned to perform maintenance on FAA certified aircraft must meet FAA requirements.

  • US Citizen

  • Ability to obtain/maintain Security Clearance (NAC-I T1) Public Trust

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Tools are Required; Must provide own Tools and Toolbox; Tools must be shadowed and etched with PID.

  • Must be able to travel 75% of the time, Base site FT. Hood, TDY to El Paso.

  • Additional Travel to other locations may be required as needed by operational requirements.
