Aircraft Mechanic 2 (Powerplant / T55)

The Powerplant – Back Shop Mechanic performs and inspects aviation unit (AVUM), intermediate (AVIM) and depot maintenance on assigned aircraft systems.

  • Perform maintenance and repair of major assemblies and subassemblies of the T700/701C/D, T55-714 and auxiliary power units.
  • Inspect engine turbine blades to detect cracks, distortion, corrosion, burn-out, security, or breaks.
  • Perform blade blending and blade replacement in cold section of powerplants.
  • Replace or repair worn or damaged components, such as generators, alternators, fuel controls, fuel pumps, oil pumps, and engine mounted gearboxes, and compressor bleed valves.
  • Ability to Perform hot section inspections and determine replacement of hot section components (GG rotors, stators, fuel injectors, igniters, power turbine.)
  • Disassemble and inspect parts for wear, cracks, security, or other defects.
  • Perform engine removal, replacement, reinstallation, and quick-change assembly (QCA) maintenance tasks.
  • Responsible for completion and maintenance of applicable forms and records.
  • Recommend methods to improve equipment performance and maintenance procedures.
  • Observe all safety, environmental and general housekeeping rules and policies.
  • Perform general aircraft maintenance duties (removal and installation of aircraft assemblies and components such as engines, rotors, transmissions, mechanical flight controls).
  • Perform additional duties as requested.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent is required.
  • Shall have five years of recent applicable aircraft maintenance experience.
  • License: FAA A&P or FCC Elements 1 and 3 required.
  • Must possess a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant License (A&P), with at least two-year aviation maintenance experience, and two years on the assigned MDS.
  • All experience must be within the five most recent years.
  • If no A&P, must possess an FCC License with Elements 1 and 3 as well as three years aviation maintenance experience, three years rotary wing aircraft experience and two years on the assigned Mission Design Series (MDS).
  • Must be US Citizen.
  • Must have a current and valid US Passport.
  • TESA approval: Must be able to qualify for TESA approval; must have over 5 years career total Aviation maintenance experience.
  • Security: Ability to obtain/maintain NAC-I Public Trust. Interim NACI approved to start.
