Job Summary

The Mechanic 2 SE/PMS Coordinator: Shall have working and practical knowledge of maintenance on aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, hydraulic, engines, avionics, armament, gear boxes, rotor systems, plane captain qualifications, flight schedule and operations, phase and preservation. Working with foreign counties/cultures. Expert knowledge of CSEC, MPA, AMI, SE/PMS log books. Manage other employees and insure work load is completed on time. Approve time cards for other employees.

Essential Responsibilities:

Working and practical knowledge; Repairs and rebuilds all aircraft systems to include aircraft structure system, engine/gearbox/rotor system, all avionic systems. Blades and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units, ensuring hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills are being used properly, wire, canon plugs, system avionic boxes, rewire, cockpit avionics, paint/corrosion on all aircraft systems. Reads and interprets manufacturers' and maintenance manuals, OPNAV 4790, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. Also local GOP,LOI, PQS, Safety Orders Working and practical knowledge; Performs 175-hour, progressive, isochronal, phase, periodic, and other hourly or calendar inspections, examines engines for cracked blades and oil leaks, inspects turbine engines and components for cracks, corrosion, foreign object damage, burned areas, distortions, security, warping, wear, and missing segments. Detect cracks, distortion, corrosion, burn-out, security, or breaks, tests sets, using testing equipment. Replace or repair worn or damaged components, SE PM inspection dates on equipment, turn in and receives equipment/pre-operational check are completed in accordance with the proper instruction. Job duties may require that this Mechanic 2 adjusts, repairs, and replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories, performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections, and miscellaneous duties to include servicing aircraft, including flushing gearbox, cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, checking brakes and corrosion prevention of aircraft. Working and practical knowledge; jacking and towing of aircraft, enters in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verifies the work was performed satisfactorily; may service engines and airframe components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul; required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition. Working and practical knowledge; Repairs and modifies structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies; and may specialize in engine repair. Leadership ability is required, assign and monitor; Ensure safety procedures are followed for the following: adjustment, repairs, or replace any aircraft system and aircraft accessories, performs grinding, scraping, etching of tools, maintenance inspections, performs miscellaneous duties SE/PMS log book inspections, work center inspections Amentum and US Navy, prepare for Amentum/Navy QA, MPA and AMI inspections. This is not an all-inclusive list. Shall be required to specialize in one or more areas engine/airframes/electrical/armament repair, SE/PMS Log book entries. Mechanic 2 can be responsible for other areas of the aircraft that he or she may be required to fulfill other obligations for aircraft maintenance or administration duties. This is not an all-inclusive list Must be able and available to work all shifts on site.

Additional duties include:

Housekeeping of all areas of work including shop; participate in FOD program. Obtain Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative qualification( if needed). Comply with all safety requirements. Handling and disposing of Hazmat. May need to participate and qualify in Aviation gas free program (If needed). Obtain all support equipment licenses for job description (If needed).

Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 15 years actual and recent Aircraft Maintenance experience, Shall have 10 years experience on MPA or AMI inspection team and specialized in SE/PMS program.

  • Shall be able to coordinate with squadron upper leadership chain of command, supply work center top include US Navy and Amentum work centers and personnel on all things pertaining to SE/PMS program.

  • Must be able to interpret instructions as outlined in CNAFINST 4790.2 (series) and Local work site local instructions. Expert knowable of CSEC, able to prepare an entire US Navy squadron for QA inspections and MPA/AMI.

  • Might be required to complete minimum of one or multiple PQS’s for classification’s qualification (PQS)Personal qualification standards as needed; for the following, AM,AD,AE,AT,AO,Plane Captain. PQS and all requirements SHALL be completed within the allotted time as per work site instructions.

  • All Work Site Positions: Job descriptions and responsibilities shall change with changes to instructions and or publication that govern US Navy Mission to include aircraft and equipment maintenance requirements/documentation.

  • Must be able to work all shifts. Full time employment; but 40 hour is not guaranteed per-week. Working hours; must be able to be flexible, start time and end time will be dependent on flight schedule and or overall tasking.

  • Manage other mechanics or employees and insure work load is completed on time.

  • Approve time cards for other employees.

  • Ability to read and write and interpret technical data and special operating instructions is required. An in-depth knowledge of the applicable aircraft is required. A thorough working knowledge of applicable technical publication is required. Able to make SE/PMS Log book entries and able to detect errors in the same log books to include US Navy and Amentum work centers.

  • Ability to use a computer, keyboard and mouse printer and be proficient using computer programs Word, Excel, powerpoint, Outlook, nalcomis/ooma.

  • Good verbal and written skills and leadership ability are required.

  • Must be able to work with foreign counties/cultures. Work side by side with people of different culture and languages.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC) or Rapid Gate Pass, T3 Back ground check is required.

  • Prior experience with U.S. Naval repair maintenance operations on military aircraft highly preferred.

  • Knowledge and use of special tools/equipment required to perform assigned maintenance tasks is mandatory.

  • Must have a valid Driver’s License.

  • Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with and pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned tasks.

  • Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a U.S. Government background security check

  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English.

  • Housekeeping of all areas of work including shop; participate in FOD program.

  • Successfully passing a pre-employment drug screen.

Preferred Qualifications
