The C-26 Transport Senior Aircraft Mechanic/Specialist III (AM 3)

Possesses senior level experience, special certifications, qualifications, and/or expertise. Coordinates, plans, schedules, supervises, and performs organizational and intermediate level maintenance on C-26 aircraft. Is responsible for all aspects of the servicing, repairing, and modifying aircraft systems at assigned site to ensure continued airworthiness, with a focus on troubleshooting. Manages and/or performs tasks associated with the maintenance of avionics & electrical systems, engines, flight controls and/or airframe components. Mentors and trains junior colleagues as required.

  • Capable of performing operational checks, bench checks, troubleshooting, and isolation of malfunctions in complex aircraft avionics equipment.

  • Demonstrated expertise in aircraft wiring build up, component installation, and flight test.

  • Capable of using complex test equipment such as continuous wave and pule generators, time domain reflectometers, multi-trace oscilloscopes, frequency counters, multi-meters, and deviation meters. And specialized test equipment to perform operational checks.

  • Experience in repairing or replacing components based on test results following blueprints, schematics, handbooks, and other technical documents.

  • Capable of performing calibration, repair and replacement of system components based on test results following blueprints, schematics, handbooks, and other technical documents.

  • In-depth knowledge of advanced electronic principles and circuit analysis.

  • Ability to trace signal flow, understand interrelationships of circuits, interpret waveforms and voltages.

  • Working knowledge of aircraft communications/navigation and instrument systems.

  • Ability to interpret schematic diagrams, engineering drawings and charts of assigned systems.

  • Excellent soldering and harness/wiring skills, PC board, surface mount and crimping experience.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.

  • Formal civilian and/or military training in Avionics desired for specialization.

  • Thirteen years specific experience on Army C-26 aircraft preferred.

  • Fifteen years flight line experience on program like-type fixed-wing turboprop or turbofan aircraft and/or five years’ experience in qualifying specialization desired.

  • Valid FAA Aircraft & Powerplant (A&P) certificate required.

  • FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL) / Marine Radio Operator Permit (MP) desired for specialization.

  • AM-3 may be required to perform tasks or meet AM2 requirements listed above, and as applicable:

  • Able to obtain a Valid US Passport and able to deploy to overseas locations if requested.

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

  • Obtain/maintain secret security clearance.

Additional and Physical Requirements

  • Be physically able to perform aircraft mechanic duties.

  • Ability to move freely about the interior of aircraft and in the unpressurized area aft of the aft pressure bulkhead and meet aircraft specific specs for weight limit. Stand, squat, sit, walk, work with arms overhead for extended periods of time. Pull, push, lift to 50 lbs. Able to pass physical medical examination as required.

  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.

  • Reliable, self-motivated, and able to deal with stressful situations and timelines while maintaining professional and non-confrontational attitude.
