The technical skills, innovative thinking and the tireless dedication of our employees around the world are Eaton's greatest resources.Position Overview:Eatons utility & grid solutions division is currently seeking a Hardware Engineer to perform both electronic design and product certification, for products related to our Energy Automation Solutions division in the utility market. The product development responsibilities for this role are link with Eatons digitalization strategy and will ensure the hardware product conformance to standards such as IEC 61850-3, IEEE-1613, TUV and act as the domain expert interfacing with cross-functional teams in a distributed team organization.Making what matters work at Eaton takes the passion of every employee around the world. Its where bold, bright professionals like you can reach your full potentialand where you can help us reach ours.In this function you will:+ Lead test plans, pre-compliance testing with in-house and third-party labs acting as the Eaton representative and prepares project technical packages of EMC/RF & Safety regulations of IEC61850-3, IEEE1613, UL/CSA/FCC, CE, TUV and other regulatory compliance bodies.+ Represent Eatons interests on councils and committees+ Provides technical support to customers, sales team and Hardware engineer teams related to standards+ Lead the design for EMC and signal integrity of analog and high-speed designs, including power supplies, signal conditioning using Eaton platform standard guidelines, industry best practices, regulatory agency compliance requirements and Design for Manufacturability input.+ Creates electronic design, PCBA layouts, BOMs, and selects components to fit the project requirements and conducts design reviews.+ Perform the analysis, simulation and verification of the integrity of critical signals and the measurement as well as the validation of prototypes+ Drive enhancement of existing products and services based on evaluations of existing and new technologies per Eatons strategic plans.+ All other related tasksWhen we embrace the different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds that make each of us unique, we as individuals and as a company are stronger. QualificationsRequired Qualifications:+ Bachelors degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering/Technology from an accredited institution+ Minimum 5 years experience as electronic designer of embedded system+ Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship+ Comfortable working in a fast-paced development team environment and demonstration of strong communication skills plus results delivery+ Fluent in English and French.+ Relocation is not being offered for this position. Candidates must reside within a 50mile radius of EAS offices: Montreal or Lvis, QC.Preferred Qualifications:+ 7+ years experience as electronic designer of embedded system+ Prior experience using agile/scrum/sprint hardware product development methodologies and as part of a globally distributed team of internal/external developers and suppliers.+ Computer knowledge: MS Office suite, Altium Designer+ CID (Certified Interconnect Designer-basic) or CID+ (advanced)+ Experience in Substation environment and knowledgeable of IEC61850, IEEE1613 standardsPosition Criteria:+ Driven individuals with ability to work under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines.+ Candidates must have strong English and French communication skills to work with local and global team members.+ Ability to read, evaluate, and interpret internal specification documents and develop a comprehensive test plan.+ Experience in project management to include time estimation, time management, scheduling and reporting is a plusWe are committed to ensuring equal employment opportunities for all job applicants and employees.
