The Defense Group, within the Airborne Solutions Division currently has a dynamic opportunity for a mid-level, Aviation Electrical Engineer to work in our Manassas, VA office. This is an exciting opportunity to use your skills to help in designing, upgrading and maintaining aircraft modifications on the U.S. Army’s Fixed Wing ISR platforms.

Primary Responsibilities
-Assist with all aspects of avionics electrical design work related to aircraft modifications and mission equipment payload (MEP) electrical power and data cabling design. This may include supporting system architecture and component selection.
-Assist with electrical loads analysis, hardware integration and general system troubleshooting
-Design electrical harnesses for power distribution, RF, communication and high speed data signals.
-Selection of harness components and hardware.
-Active involvement and communication with cable vendors to support build and testing of assemblies.
-Update technical documentation as it pertains to both electrical design and system architecture.
-Identify opportunities for improvements and operational cost and schedule savings.
-Provide technical guidance for hardware installation.


Job Qualifications
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below
-A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or a Master's with a minimum of 2 years experience. Additional relevant years of experience allowed in lieu of a degree.
-Experience, knowledge and ability to effectively apply military and aerospace electrical standards such as:
MIL-DTL-38999, MIL-DTL-24308, SAE-AS50881, SAE-AS83519, SAE-AS25036, SAE-AS22759, SAE-AS81824
-Experience developing electrical architectures
-Experience using electrical design software
-Experience with avionics integration, operation and troubleshooting
-Experience in developing load analysis
-Strong communication skills for collaboration
-Positive attitude, ability to multi-task and possess strong time management skills
-A DoD Secret clearance required to start with the ability to obtain and maintain a final Top Secret/SCI
-10% CONUS travel

Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration
-Experience with aircraft avionics systems (i.e. power, communication, etc.)
