If so, lets talk.Your Role and ResponsibilitiesSYSzART19 / #GHOSThe RoleWe are seeking a CPU and System performance modeling engineer who can design and model the POWER microarchitecture and system configurations for next generation IBM Cognitive Servers.Your ImpactAs part of the world class team that designed the #1 & #2 fastest supercomputers in the US and world class enterprise scaleup computers, you'll be a key part of the team to drive innovation into the next generation POWER microprocessors, memory, accelerators, and systems for Cloud Computing Era.Description+ Key member of the MicroProcessor and System design community responsible for delivering optimized future processor and system designs.+ Develop cycle accurate microarchitectural models for early SW development and for HW validation.+ Other responsibilities include workload performance counter and hardware trace analysis, RTL vs model correlation, pre- and post-silicon performance analysis and validation. Focus on key benchmarks and applications to drive experimentation and HW/SW optimization. Identify and propose solutions to HW/SW pinch points collaborating with key software and hardware design engineers.+ Focus on continuous improvement of the modeling infrastructure and capabilities as well as the modeling process.Key QualificationsThe candidate will have previous experience designing, modeling, analyzing, tuning new microarchitectures and ISA features for the core, uncore, and/or chip models across a suite of workloads. Server microprocessor design experience preferred. Modern programming languages and software development experience preferred. Familiarity with POWER ISA preferred. Ability to work in a team, network with people outside of the team and effectively communicate in written and verbal presentations is essential.Required Technical and Professional Expertise+ 5+ years of CPU ISA and microarchitecture design+ Strong knowledge of buses, cache, memories, coherency and other Nest/System related topics+ 3+ years in CPU and System performance modeling, analysis, and tuning of cores, uncores, chip constructs+ Workload characterization and workload modeling/tracing skills+ C/C++ proficiency+ Perl or other scripting language proficiency+ Ability to work cross-functionally to articulate, measure and solve performance issues+ Passion for continuous improvement in building knowledge base both technically and professionally+ Minimum MS OR Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline or equivalent experience.Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise+ Knowledge of POWER ISA+ Software development project experience+ Knowledge of competing architectures+ Knowledge of firmware, OS, and compiler optimizations+ Knowledge of server microprocessors and systems+ Agile/ Scrum methodology experienceNONEAbout Business UnitIBM Systems helps IT leaders think differently about their infrastructure.
