Job Summary

Nuclear Waste Partnership, an LLC of Amentum, managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as an Instrumentation and Control Engineer to join our Engineering team located in Carlsbad, NM.

The successful candidate will qualify as a System Engineer (SE) for WIPP systems as assigned by the Engineering Manager. Provide real-time support to plant modifications to ensure accuracy to design drawings and other Technical Baseline documents. Perform as ¬built field verifications of selected structures, systems, components, and drawings that depict the actual plant conditions. Become the technical expert in their respective structures, systems, and components and perform the development of Engineering Change Notices. Become the system expert and maintain system specifications, configuration management, and design documents to ensure compliance with Documented Safety Analysis. This position requires the ability to perform field work in varied conditions, including indoors and outdoors, surface and underground.

NWP Exempt Salary Grade (31 - 33)


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree plus five (5) years of relevant experience is required.
    • Professional Engineers license is an acceptable alternative to a baccalaureate.
      Related experience may substitute for education at the rate of six semester credit hours for each year of experience up to a maximum of 60 credit hours.
      When combined with experience, completion of technical portions of an engineering, engineering technology, or related science program may substitute for the baccalaureate. Completion must be determined by transcript or certification by a recognized accrediting organization. Completion of 80 semester credit hours in technical subjects related to the position may be substituted for the baccalaureate.
  • Experience in instrument and process control application and plant communications is mandatory.
  • Due to the nature of the work, all candidates must be US Citizens.


Preferred Qualifications

  • One (1) year of nuclear project experience is preferred.
  • Experience in PLC Programming is desired.
  • Previous WIPP Project experience is a plus.
