Job Summary

Amentum is actively seeking a Piping and Hydraulic Controls Junior Engineer to work in Code 254 at SWRMC. This is an entry-level position located at SWRMC in San Diego, CA.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop troubleshooting plans for hydraulic controllers and piping systems
  • Verify compliance with systems engineering principles, integration approaches, and accepted Department of the Navy maintenance program fundamentals
  • Support engineering evaluations of hydraulic and freshwater control systems onboard ships and submarines
  • Review and evaluate work specifications as requested by the NSA project manager based on technical risk and the quality management plan for the assigned availability
  • Coordinate with shipboard and waterfront personnel to repair subject systems
  • Conduct maintenance of shipboard hydraulic systems and controllers onboard US Navy ships
  • Prepare all required products including certification PowerPoint, CHENG certification memos, and other supporting documents

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, or similar), or similar major
  • Experience with AUTOCAD or SOLIDWORKS
  • Ability to work onboard ships at times
  • Needs to be flexible and a rapid learner
  • Excellent attitude, communication, and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs
  • Strong interpersonal skills required in a diverse-background team environment
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Ability to pass and maintain a DoD secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ideal candidate has experience providing engineering services to U.S. Navy or in shipyards
  • Experience with boolean logic and/or digital-based control systems (such as PLC) strongly preferred
  • Experience with modern Navy Ship systems a plus (PLCs, electrical controllers, DDG-51, DDG-1000, LCS)
  • Active secret security clearance
