Overview:
Subject matter expert in Aviation Flight Operations tasks specific to US Army aviation platforms in both a training and operational environment. Executes daily airfield tasks in support of all operations of Customer Rotary Wing Operations. Supports airfield flight operations and support activities to ensure safe and effective training and operations.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for assisting the Flight Operations Manager in the execution of airfield flight operations tasks and execution of all functions, activities, and flight operations procedures in support of Customer rotary wing operations. Responsible for supporting the safe operation, employment, maintenance, and flight procedures of MD500 Series rotary wing aircraft. Assists the Flight Operations Manager and performs the following tasks. Manage all flight planning, filing, and related activities in support of Customer and contractor training, operational and maintenance operations. Execution of guidelines and standards for airfield operations. Monitor and operate various communications equipment used for communication with aircraft flight crews, emergency response crews, refuel, security forces, and Air Traffic Control. Assist flight crews with flight planning requirements. Assist flight crews with accessing weather forecasts and Notices to Airman. Conduct flight line inspections as required. Provide coordination and reporting for Downed Aircraft Recovery Missions. Provide technical expertise during complex deployments and exercises. Provide support for aircrews in the filing of flight plans, FLIP ordering and distribution, clearances, and weather support. Respond to and manage airfield aircraft emergency and accidents/incidents. Inspects and/or checks condition of runways, taxiways, and aprons for flying safety hazards to include compliance with airfield criteria, aircraft foreign object damage and bird aircraft strike hazards. Maintains documentation of shift events, traffic logs, and other necessary forms to document coordination of airfield/aircraft activities. Conducts OJT of customer designated personnel in Flight Operations procedures. Update NOTAM board. Interpret and process flight plans. Maintain individual flight record folders. Post current flight and weather information. Maintain the aircrew and aircraft mission status boards. Maintain functional files and type correspondence pertaining to flight operations. Initiate search and rescue procedures for overdue aircraft. Post changes to the aircrew reading file. Issue, receive, and inventory items as required by the section SOP. Ensure that the support provided is timely. Other duties as assigned and or directed by management. Reports to the Aviation Training and Support Manager. Works within the rules and regulations of Army airfield flight operations guidelines. Authority to select and implement goals and objectives within the execution of duties and responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education Level: High school graduate required. Associates or Bachelor’s degree- preferred. Graduate of the US Army Flight Operations Specialist Course (15P, or DoD equivalent) -required.
Experience: Experience: 6-8 years experiences in Aviation Operations required. Former NCO, E6-E7 preferred. Experience within the last 5-years preferred.

Specific knowledge, skill, and ability requirements: Must possess an understanding of Aviation Operations specific to rotary wing aircraft. Demonstrated performance in Aviation Operations activities from previous job positions. A working knowledge of the employment of weather and ATC support in airfield operations. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written. Ability to deal effectively with people in the supervision of staff. Ability to effectively communicate with the customer in a professional and courteous manner. Possess a valid driver’s license.
