Job Description

We are currently seeking a Senior Scientist to contribute to a pivotal role in our Inventory and Data Management team in our company's Biomarker Operations group within Genome and Biomarker Sciences GBx. You will be part of a group that functions to maximize our specimen assets collected in clinical trials to enable biomarker research within drug development. This role will support industry-leading Inventory and Data management activities that integrate clinical specimen inventory and associated meta-data using IT platforms and analytics software to allow for “Information Management” and reporting that help drive biomarker and program development strategy.


In this exciting role, you will:

  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive specimen inventory by tracking specimens collected from our company's clinical trials and assay metadata generated from these collections

  • Support teams with reports of biomarker information using various query and database integration tools

  • Understand and support the integration of disparate data sources

  • Manage quality control, process, and associated documentation required to support information management activities, specifically related to specimen inventory and associated meta-data

  • Monitor processes and identify opportunities for improvement

  • Maintain effective communications and relationships with project teams, vendors, and other cross-functional company teams

Qualifications:

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • BA/BS in a scientific, IT, or related field of study

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Scientific, IT or related field of study with 3 plus years of pharmaceutical related experience, OR

  • Master’s degree or higher in a Scientific, IT or related field of study with 2 plus years of pharmaceutical related experience

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Experience with LIMS systems for biospecimen inventory management, including system maintenance and upgrade processes such as requirement definitions, SDLC and UAT

  • Understanding of scientific terminology and clinical trial execution

  • Understanding of biomarker sample processing and lifecycle

  • Experience with a programming language such as SQL, Python, PERL

  • Experience working with Central Labs, Specialty Labs and Biorepository inventory and meta-data

  • Familiarity with clinical data management and data sets

  • Familiarity with relational databases and how to join and reformat data for reporting purposes

  • Familiarity with IT systems including but not limited to; Labmatrix (and Qiagram), Spotfire (and Webplayer), Pipeline Pilot, and REST API interface
