Job Summary

Amentum has an opportunity for a highly qualified C-UAS Plans & Operations SME to provide real-time operational support, research, analysis, technology insertion, and assessments in support of U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM). This position is located at Camp H.M. Smith, Hawaii.

Background: USINDOPACOM requires agile and innovative services tailored to address the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and USINDOPACOM Commander’s requirement to deter threats and provide unambiguous understanding of the operational environment. You will be responsible for informing the command’s alignment with Department of Defense (DoD) policies, directives, and instructions on Counter Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-UAS). You will advise in the execution of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM) Counter Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (C-sUAS) process to identify and prioritize protection capabilities; assess the security posture and resilience of command assets; synchronize Service Component and Sub-Unified Command lines of effort; and ensure senior leader awareness of sUAS events and incursions throughout the theater. You'll also provide critical research and analysis of current threats in order to identify high-value gaps and develop innovative solutions to counter the threats. This analysis will support, streamline, and enable the USINDOPACOM leadership to protect forces and capabilities against known and emerging threats from UAS.

In this position, you will perform the following specific tasks:

  • Provide assistance to senior-level strategic planning and briefings, including preparing formal papers and background information.
  • Conduct research and analysis on various pertinent national security policies, military capabilities, and vulnerability assessments.
  • Support force protection operations planning and coordination to identify and coordinate the process for integrating C-sUAS activities into the USINDOPACOM force protection policies and rules of engagement.
  • Provide analysis and technical expertise to assist force protection plans
  • Identify and make recommendations regarding the mitigation of capability gaps in accordance with operational performance metrics and gap analysis.

Minimum Requirements

  • At least 10 years of combined experience supporting the Department of Defense (DoD)
  • At least 5 years of experience in operational planning
  • Knowledge of USINDOPACOM, Component and OSD processes, procedures, and requirements in order to integrate stakeholders with INDOPACOM efforts and outcomes
  • Knowledge of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and Counter Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-UAS) operations
  • Proficient at authoring analytical and/or policy documents
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in order to provide information and operations support to USINDOPACOM personnel
  • Proficiency with MS Office Applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Due to the nature of the work, must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance prior to your start date

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree from an accredited college or university, or Graduation from a military command and staff college
  • At least 2 years of experience working in the USINDOPACOM AOR
  • Knowledge of USINDOPACOM Headquarters structure and processes
  • Experience working in a multi-national / partner environment
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and can learn quickly
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Command & Control of the Information Environment (C2IE) applications
  • Knowledge of C-sUAS operations, analysis, and assessments with DoD, US, and/or interagency partners in the past 3 years
  • Knowledge of C-sUAS testing and evaluating technologies used to detect, identify, track, and mitigate Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS)
  • Knowledge of integrating one or more C-sUAS systems together to detect, identify, track, and mitigate systems with a common operating picture (COP)
  • Experience with Department of Defense C-sUAS systems
  • Active Secret security clearance
