Overview:

Responsible as the SME in mission planning for the MDS of the Battalion. Maintains mission planning equipment and acts as a mentor for the entire mission planning process from receipt of mission to briefing. Advises the command on integrating ASE and PR into mission planning. Assists in the development and maintenance of the ASE and PR program.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:


Maintain Battalion flight planning area and ensure Aviation Mission Planning Systems are maintained. Conduct full spectrum mission planning training to include planning a route, loading an aircraft data storage devices, product preparation, and briefings. Develop additional training as required to support Brigade/Battalion mission requirements. Advise the Command on ASE employment and assist during the risk management process. Manage the ASE program to include SOP development, implementation, and training. Manage the PR program, to include SOP development, implementation, training, and integration into higher echelon PR programs. Liaison with top management. Assist in the development of strategic plans for operational activity. Drive initiatives in the management team and organizationally that contribute to long-term operational excellence. Facilitate coordination and communication between support functions. Assemble and direct division staff. Supervise and coach subordinate managers on a routine basis. Determine staffing requirements, interview, hire new employees, or oversee those personnel processes. Act as a focal point for conflict resolution between employees and internal/external departments. Reports to the Battalion Standardization officer. Works within the policies and procedures of the contract. Able to select and implement goals and objectives within the execution of duties and responsibilities. Responsible for the management, training, and advancement process for assigned TACOPs support staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education Level:
Bachelors of Science in management or aviation centric field. Relevant work experience can be substituted in lieu of a degree. Graduate of the US Army Tactical Operations (TACOPS) or Aviation Mission Survivability Officer (AMSO) course is required. Graduate of the US Army Warrant Officer Advanced Course (WOAC) and Warrant Officer Senior Staff Course (WOSSC/WOSSE) preferred.

Experience: Ten years of TACOPS experience with at least five at the Battalion and above level preferred. Former US Army CW3/CW4 preferred. Aviation operations experience within the last five years preferred.

Specific knowledge, skill, and ability: Knowledge of US Army rotary wing regulations and publications. In-depth understanding of US Army aviation operations including high altitude and desert environments. Ability to communicate effectively and work as a member of a team. Possess a valid/current US driver’s license.
