Job Summary

Amentum is actively seeking a Submarine Auxiliary and Diesel technician to work in Code 270 at SWRMC. The position is located at SWRMC in Point Loma, San Diego, CA.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Diesel Engine Maintenance on submarines
  • Develop robust troubleshooting plans for complex casualties for submarine auxiliary systems
  • Provide technical assistance and mechanical/electrical troubleshooting with the installation, modification, repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, and testing of hydraulic, steering and diving, external hydraulic, atmosphere control equipment, HP/LP air systems, AEOG, and submarine DC gear
  • Provide auxiliary technician support for urgent mission degrading CASREPs or other system and component problems affecting auxiliary systems
  • Provide auxiliary technician support for assessments and inspections such as TMIs, TSRAs, INSURVs, and ICMPs, including conducting Unrestricted Operations (URO) testing
  • Assist Ship’s Force with obtaining supply and repair parts information as required
  • Provide Ship’s Force training on submarine auxiliary systems troubleshooting techniques to identify and correct equipment failures
  • Provide out briefs to Ship’s Force representatives including ship’s officers and supporting personnel to include command management and executive staff
  • Assist with technical research and resolution recommendations for the DFS program
  • Provide auxiliary support for ESR to include work specification review, IDR and CFR resolution, and review of PCPs and other formal work packages
  • Other tasks as directed

Minimum Requirements

  • Ten (10) years of technical experience with auxiliary systems including submarine specific systems
  • Candidates must have submarine experience as a submarine qualified machinist mate (preferably SSN 688 class)
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs
  • Ability to travel if needed
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD secret level security clearance
  • Ability to get CAC card on day 1 if clearance has lapsed
  • Must have previously held a DoD secret clearance
