Sinclair Broadcast Group (SBG) is seeking a full-time, highly motivated and detail-oriented Data & Reporting Analyst to join the Enterprise Data & Insights (ED&I) team. The primary mission of the Enterprise Data & Insights team is to empower and enable every Sinclair stakeholder with the trusted, accessible data needed and desired to operate a modern, world-class media company by connecting, democratizing, and managing data to enable transformative insights and data-led decision making.

SBG uses industry-leading data management tools and processes, both cloud-based and on-premises. SBG is on a data maturity journey that begins with a strong understanding of our systems and data structures. We are looking for an analyst with strong SQL, Excel, and analysis skills in addition to a strong understanding and experience with databases, system design, data models, reporting, and data quality. Areas of focus will include data analysis to collect, analyze, and store data to ensure our consumers have high quality and trusted data that is well understood and governed throughout the enterprise as well as creating reports and dashboards as needed and contributing to future cataloging and metadata management efforts.

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform data analysis to fully understand data structures and consistency issues between systems
  • Collect and analyze data from various sources to identify trends, insights, and opportunities for improvement
  • Analyze data models to deliver logical conclusions
  • Create reports and dashboards that clearly communicate key metrics to stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Provide training and support to end-users on how to effectively use data and reporting tools
  • Build strong relationships with technical and functional system owners to gain knowledge about Sinclair’s technology systems and become a trusted data subject matter expert over time
  • Work with colleagues and stakeholders to gain an in-depth understanding of critical requirements of ongoing projects that require data analysis support
  • Be self-driven and proactive in contributing work of high value to the team
  • Author and update internal documentation, and formally initiate and deliver data analysis findings

The preferred candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in business or technology-related field
  • 2-5+ years of experience working as a data analyst on master data management, data quality, and/or business intelligence projects in large-scale business environments
  • Experience with SQL, Excel, and data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, SSRS, Cognos, or Looker.
  • Self-motivated with a can-do attitude and a drive for excellence
  • Exceptional analysis skills leveraging available tools, with top-notch written communication skills utilizing Microsoft Excel, Word, Visio, and PowerPoint to communicate findings in the data for audiences at all levels, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
  • The ability to “speak data”, meaning proficiency with SQL, Excel, reporting applications, and an understanding of data technologies and common tooling
  • Strong technical understanding of relational databases and related concepts
  • Strong technical understanding of data warehousing, data modeling, and reporting
  • Awareness of the technology trends in data today and the impact of cloud and AI technologies
  • Awareness of the Data Management Book of Knowledge (DM-BOK) and understanding of the core principles
  • IIBA, DAMA, and Azure/AWS certifications a plus
  • Experience with data governance, data quality management, and data privacy regulations is a plus
  • Understanding of broadcast/cable, CTV/OTT and digital media landscape a plus
