Structural and Corrosion Preservation Specialist
Job Summary
Amentum is actively seeking an Engineering Technician to perform work as a naval or marine Structural and Corrosion Preservation Systems Specialist. The position will be located at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC), Naval Station, Norfolk, Virginia.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Provide structural and corrosion assessments, preservation inspections on Navy Ships
- Evaluate the findings of the inspections and/or assessments and provide recommendations for corrective actions as necessary
- Use appropriate measuring equipment to obtain data
- Utilize computers including Microsoft Office Suite for compiling information for reports and history files
- Transfer digital pictures from camera to computer, enhance as required, and label them for report purposes
- Document all findings and recommended corrective actions in the approved Navy Database (i.e. 3M or CADET)
- Communicate effectively in writing and orally all findings and recommendations
Minimum Requirements
- Eight (8) years of general experience with the installation, assessment, repair, testing and maintenance of tanks, voids, spaces/compartments and topside areas of US naval vessels
- Four (4) years of specialized, hands-on experience working on and inspecting ship structures, intakes, and exhaust, and have knowledge of welding requirements as defined in NAVSEA Standard Items
- Have knowledge about sheet metal, preservation, insulation, piping and electrical systems on Navy Ships
- Current (within three (3) years) of hands-on experience with this equipment
- Must be currently NACE certified, Shipboard Corrosion Assessment Training (SCAT) Technician
- Ability to obtain a secret clearance
