As an integral member of the Science Communications team, the

Senior Manager, R&D and Early Pipeline Communications will lead and support early pipeline efforts across all TAs, including data milestones, medical congress activities, executive visibility and social media strategies; support creation of disease awareness materials, liaising with content teams for story development; collaborate with clinical and commercial teams.

This role is a vital component to the science communications team and will support the creation and execution of the overall integrated communications strategy and plan for the Research & Early Development and Global Drug Development organizations. Efforts include liaising with relevant RED & GDD members, Corporate Affairs teams, and agency partners.

The role will report to the Director of Science Communications. This role does not have any director reports. The position will be located in Central NJ.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement an integrated external communications plan to showcase the full BMS Early Pipeline (prior to hand-off to global drug development team) and raise the scientific profile of Bristol-Myers Squibb, aligning with the Corporate and R&D Strategy.
  • Develop creative content on key targets, pathways and thematic areas of focus, aligned to the current pipeline, positioning BMS as a leader in the scientific community.
  • Liaise with various stakeholders to prepare for disclosures at medical meetings, earnings announcements, collaborative announcements and other miscellaneous pipeline updates.
  • Develop close partnership with Corporate Affairs colleagues supporting global drug development, to ensure cohesive communications plans around events like medical meetings
  • Consider appropriate multi-channel approach for all communications opportunities.
  • Partner closely with appropriate team to ensure accurate and timely deployment on digital and social channels.
  • Ensure international colleagues have access to information and resources to educate their stakeholders on the full pipeline.
  • Work collaboratively to ensure a smooth transition from Early Development to Global Drug Development.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of professional experience in corporate affairs, with a focus on pharmaceutical communications preferred. A successful candidate will have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Past experience of working in a pharmaceutical or scientific industry. Agency experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record driving scientific communications in coordination with business partners.
  • Exceptional collaboration skills with the ability to partner effectively within the department and the business.
  • Strong understanding of how to engage internal and external stakeholders with customer/patient-focused mindset.
  • Superior written and interpersonal communications skills and ability use scientific expertise to craft corporate messages and strategies.
  • Proven strategic planning and project management capabilities.
  • Strong business acumen skills, ability to think strategically, in a creative and innovative manner.
  • Proven experience working in a matrixed environment and operating within a complex, fast-paced and changing environment.
