Job Description

Our Quantitative Pharmacology and Pharmacometrics (QP2) group is seeking a passionate, curious, and a collaborative Principal Scientist (equivalent to Scientific Director).

Principal Scientists in QP2 demonstrate advanced knowledge of how to apply quantitative approaches to drive model-informed drug and vaccine development. More specifically, they can independently impact key decisions on drug/vaccine development programs such as, inform dose selection, clinical trial design, and critical go/no-go decisions via translational PK/PD approaches, population PK/PD modeling, clinical trial simulation, model-based meta-analysis (MBMA), and quantitative systems pharmacology (QSP) models. In addition, Principal Scientists shape, present and defend regulatory strategies to support global regulatory submissions and post-approval expansions in indications. They are excellent communicators and demonstrate outstanding leadership skills. Principal Scientists perform job duties independently with minimal supervision, lead QP2 efforts on drug/vaccine development programs, author strategic documents, and contribute to business development assessments.

This role will be focused on efforts in the infectious disease therapeutic area within the Infectious Disease/Vaccine group of QP2


  • A Ph.D. or equivalent degree with at least seven years of experience – OR - a PharmD or equivalent degree with at least nine years of experience -OR- an MS or equivalent degree with at least 11 years of experience, where “experience” means having a record of increasing responsibility, independence and demonstrated impact in driving drug/vaccine development decisions through application of model-based approaches.

  • An educational background in Quantitative Clinical Pharmacology, Pharmacometrics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics/Biostatistics, computational biology/chemistry, chemical/biomedical engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience with performing population PK/PD analyses using standard pharmacometrics software(s) (e.g. NONMEM, Phoenix, Monolix or other similar)

  • Expertise in critical data analysis/interpretation and ability to visualize complex data using tool(s) (e.g. R, Python, Matlab)


  • Experience in developing and conducting model-based meta-analysis (MBMA).

  • Knowledge of infectious diseases or vaccines.

  • Direct experience in regulatory interactions and filing with the ability to influence regulatory strategies including independently formulating registration packages to support global filings, a strong understanding of clinical pharmacology studies to support intrinsic/extrinsic factors, ability to independently author, defend regulatory filings.

  • Proficiency in written and verbal communication, interdisciplinary collaboration, and problem scoping and planning.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in, and lead an interdisciplinary team, and to have mentored junior scientists/peers.
