Position Summary

Leads Discovery & Optimization (LDO) is a diverse group of scientists and engineers, providing critical assay information to therapeutic research centers (TRCs) throughout research and early development (R&ED). We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative scientist to join the Biochemistry and Cellular pharmacology group within LDO. Our team is highly dynamic in establishing robust biochemical, cell-based assays and using complex technologies like high content imaging, Luminex, CETSA and flow cytometry to understand the mechanism of action and establish SAR for different drug modalities.

We invite undergraduates with appropriate training from all backgrounds to apply for this intern position in our fun and fast-paced team. You will work in a highly dynamic environment at the center of the R&ED drug discovery engine to use cutting edge assay technologies applied to complex drug discovery problems. You will be assigned a project which integrates with our team’s objectives and core mission to establish assays and make an impact in drug discovery quickly and efficiently. Importantly, this opportunity will expose you to a myriad of techniques and advance your laboratory skills to the next level. In addition to this you will be exposed to exciting science in the tumor microenvironment TRC and immuno-oncology via seminars and lab meetings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute general mammalian tissue culture and maintain cell lines for various assays.
  • Design, optimize, troubleshoot various cell-based assays for the immuno-oncology programs.
  • Develop internalization studies for antibody drug conjugates using Operetta (high content imaging platform)
  • Perform flow cytometry experiments using iQue flow cytometer and analyze the data.
  • Will have the opportunity to learn automation, various types of liquid handlers.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Junior or Senior undergraduate enrolled in a full-time university program which includes or approves an internship of 3 months at BMS, and in a technically relevant field, such as Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Biomedical engineering and Bioengineering.
  • Hands on experience with mammalian cell culture , prior experience with establishing simple assays, real time PCR.
