Position Summary

Leads Discovery and Optimization (LDO) is a dynamic organization that supports the entire continuum of drug discovery from lead identification to clinical candidate delivery at Bristol Myers Squibb. LDO leverages state of the art technologies, complemented by deep subject matter expertise and broad scientific knowledge, to deliver innovative and comprehensive preclinical in vitro datasets to support our drug discovery pipeline in disease areas such as oncology, immunology, fibrosis, cardiovascular diseases, and cell therapy.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, hands-on intern with excellent interpersonal skills who is comfortable working in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.

We invite undergraduates with appropriate training from all backgrounds to apply for this internship in our engaging and fast-paced mass spectrometry team. You will work in a dynamic environment at the forefront of the R&ED drug discovery pipeline, using cutting edge technologies applied to complex drug discovery problems. You will be assigned a project which integrates with the mass spectrometry team’s objectives and core mission to quickly and efficiently identify chemical series that will function as potential drug candidates. Importantly, this opportunity will expose you to a myriad of biochemical and analytical techniques and advance your laboratory skills to the next level!

Key Responsibilities

  • Under supervision, prepare and execute multi-step Liquid Chromatography – Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS) experiments
  • Engage in troubleshooting and system suitability activities for a variety of analytical instrumentation
  • Perform data analysis via Microsoft Excel, interpret results, discuss with supervisor, and communicate results to the team

Qualifications & Experience

  • Current or recent enrollment in an undergraduate degree program in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or related discipline.
  • Experience with buffer preparation, protein sample handling, and micropipetting preferred
  • Knowledge of liquid chromatography and/or mass spectrometry preferred
