Automotive Worker
Job Summary
Performs non-complex maintenance, repair and modification functions under the direct supervision of the team Heavy Equipment Mechanic or Automotive Worker on common equipment; basic structural repair and fabrication of small assemblies; and the removal and installation of access panels, components and accessories. Supervised by Heavy Equipment Mechanic.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Assists mechanic in servicing, adjusting and replaces parts such as tracks and batteries and filters using common hand tools.
- Removes inspection plates and panels; cowling, engine covers, floor boards; and related items to provide access for inspection and repair. Replaces items when work is completed.
- Performs routine duties such as furnishing materials; tools and supplies to mechanic; lifting and holding materials in place during maintenance operation; cleaning interior and exterior parts and assemblies with solvents or other cleaning solutions.
- Fills fuel tanks and cells and oil reservoirs and lubricate using grease gun.
- Washes and cleans contract units as directed.
Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
Work is performed in a shop environment that is moderately lighted, heated and ventilated, is exposed to disagreeable fumes and to cuts and bruises from using tools in close placed and hazards of moving vehicles such as forklifts and sweepers in shop area.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and taste or smell. Frequently lifts items weighing 15-25 pounds and occasionally in excess of 45 pounds. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; and risk of electrical shock.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud or unsafe conditions, questioning nonstandard operations or environmental factors that may involve unmitigated hazards, and providing feedback to supervisors and managers on all safety issues.

Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
Must have one years related experience working with U.S. Army combat and tactical equipment.
Relevant experience gained in commercial production control position is acceptable.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be able to operate a government general-purpose vehicle.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Caed or Rapid Gate, if required.
Must be able to work weekends.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and a government background check.
Must be able to speak, read and write English.
