What you’ll be doing...

As a member of the Global Technology Services org., the vendor manager is responsible for establishing, growing and driving business relationships with key strategic and complex hardware and software suppliers. In tandem, the vendor manager will build relationships and collaborate with key internal stakeholders to understand business needs, manage risks, impediments, and dependencies and ensure delivery of technology, business and financial commitments.

  • Working directly with the supplier and partnering contract managers, Sourcing, Finance and Legal will exhibit expertise in all aspects of contracts - interpretation, drafting, negotiation, commercials and implementation.
  • Being an expert and highly skilled negotiator.
  • Bridging the needs and wants of disparate clients along with stringent, often conflicting financial and operational requirements and goals.
  • Monitoring and evaluating vendor performance and compliance with service level agreements, contract guidelines, etc.
  • Understanding the financial options and accounting impact of various contracting options
  • Managing both strategic and legacy vendors while supporting new disruptive technology vendors, products, and solutions.
  • Driving new technologies while managing displacement of legacy technology.

This role will be based out of one of the locations listed in the posting. In this role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree with four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in Hardware and Software Vendor management, building relationships, driving negotiations with hard cost savings outcomes.
  • Expertise in software licensing models including SaaS.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.
  • Experience managing fortune 50 suppliers.
  • TCO analysis and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure and Technology.
  • Knowledge of current technologies, suppliers, challenges and emerging architectures needed to drive transformation.
  • Effectively and efficiently matching internal needs with new supplier’s capabilities.
  • Effectively manages relationships with incubator companies and be in tune with next generation technologies like Cloud platforms, DevOps, AI, etc.
  • Experience with cloud-based infrastructure-as-a-service platforms: AWS, Google Compute Engine, Azure, Soft Layer, OpenStack, etc.
  • Self-motivated and a self-starter with a positive can do attitude.
  • Knowledge in creating business cases, use cases, storytelling and driving change.
  • Ability to work successfully in a cross functional team environment.
  • Ability to communicate the changes in the external world and its implications to Verizon stakeholders and developing a call to action plan.
  • Verbal and written communication, presentation, problem solving, program and project a management and analytical skills.
  • Works efficiently and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Extremely tenacious and goal driven.
  • Advance user of MS & G-Suite applications.
