Job SummaryThe Operations Manager is responsible for plant performance as defined by regional and local objectives. The OM has overall responsibility for all strategic and day-to-day activities impacting the Plant as Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Inventory. (High 5 Metrics)The Plant manager must embrace corporate, group and regional initiatives including EBS, EQS, MESH and APEX. The plant manager will maintain a workforce for highly motivated employees with a morale that is conductive to high performance with performance being measured at or above minimum acceptable levels, drive performance to achieve or exceed financial plans and strategic goals. The plant manager operates within the overall framework of Eaton strategies, set objectives and procedures.Job Responsibilities Sets overall plant policies and procedures to ensure effective operations consistent with the Eaton Business System, Values and Philosophy. Coordinates and directs through managers, all functions of facility operations, including but not limited to Manufacturing, EHS, Engineering, Quality, Material, OPEX, HR and Finance. Lean: Leads, monitors and promotes the lean management system, the lean transformation process and assessment process across all plant Operational Areas. Prioritizes Lean activities across plant to improve the plant's results and support strategy initiatives. Promotes and applies best practices found across and outside to the plant. Environmental Health and Safety (EHS): Responsible for compliance to EHS regulatory as well as internal procedures implemented to control EHS risks across all plant operations. Responsible for plant wide EHS risk assessments with a continuous improvement focus on reducing risks. Promotes and applies best practices to the plant. Responsible for EHS regulatory compliance assurance with regard to risk reduction and policy implementation across all plant operations. Delivery: Drives daily continuous improvement in On-Time-Delivery metrics through root cause problems solving and countermeasures. Identifies gaps and drives Value Stream to Market Lead Time expectations with cross functional team across the overall Supply Chain and Manufacturing. Quality Mgmt. / Returns / Warranty: Ensures that quality procedures are adhered to and the plant quality objectives are maintained in order to meet the established standards of the finished product and customer expectations. Responsible for continuous improvement as it relates to external quality metrics (i.e. Complaint/PPM/Warranty reductions) and internal performance (i.e. first pass yield, scrap, rework, inspection, etc). Promotes and applies best practices to the plant. Productivity Cost Mgmt: Responsible for defining and leading site-specific operations based on productivity projects and supporting the plant competitiveness, as prioritized by the Business Case. Develop, monitor and manage the Operations Budget (Cost / Std.Hr / Mfg. Profit / Operational profit) linked to plant volume levels. Process/Product Knowledge: Understands the capacity, capability and constraints of all processes of the plant and how key product characteristics are measured and controlled within. Capable of engaging R&D, Mfg Eng, and other disciplines in detailed discussions of NPD, process improvement, and problem solving. Material/Inventory Management: Drives Inventory management, Quality and accuracy with materials tools and Kaizen events. Identifies and drives the resolution of parts shortages and/or excess stock through root cause problem solving and countermeasures. Works in conjunction with the Materials Function to identify specific parts for inventory reduction opportunities. Support SIOP process. Financial Reporting: Drives the analysis, explanation, and corrective action for unfavorable variances to assure achievement of expected results. Implements effective spending control processes and reviews. Drives corrective actions to assure compliance to budgetary expectations. Strong knowledge of key accounts flowing to each line item in the profit and loss (P&L) and balance sheet. Understands the system of budgeting, updates, and Board Estimates used by the company to track and improve performance. Proficient in Make/Buy, Discounted Cash Flow, Return on Investment calculations. Managers and operating performance through the effective use of EPM and structured problem solving. Pro-Lauch/ Project Management: Actively involved in cross functional review of action plans and stage gates for projects affecting the plant.
