Eatons Power Systems Division is currently seeking a Manager, Embedded Software Engineering to join our team. Relocation will be provided for the primary office location of Franksville, WI. This position may also be based at one of these alternate Eaton sites: Raleigh, NC, S. Milwaukee, WI, Waukesha, WI, Southfield, MI, Cleveland, OH, or Moon Township, PA. Remote office and telework will be considered.Position Overview:The Embedded Software Manager will provide technical leadership for the embedded software development team within the Controls group at the Thomas A. Edison Technical Center in Franksville, WI. The multidisciplinary Controls group develops real-time controls and protective relays used for smart grid applications in the power distribution industry. This is a key leadership role and will collaborate with controls managers/team, product managers, and program management to successfully execute and deliver new product development/maintenance of line projects and objectives of the organization.Making what matters work at Eaton takes the passion of every employee around the world. Its where bold, bright professionals like you can reach your full potentialand where you can help us reach ours.In this function you will:+ Lead a global team of 20+ embedded software engineers responsible for product development in the area of real-time embedded systems.+ Collaborate with marketing, systems engineering, application engineering, cybersecurity engineering, software developers, Center of Excellence groups to develop and maintain complex features that will enable the safe, reliable, secure delivery of power throughout the product development lifecycle.+ Own PSDs embedded systems platforms and technologies roadmap.+ Participate in digitalization strategy including software and data entitlement.+ Provide leadership, foster creativity and actively encourage innovation ensuring the team is pursuing modern techniques and technologies.+ Promote the importance of software quality attributes, including system efficiency, scalability, maintainability, reliability, reusability, unit tests and secure coding practices.+ Participate in product/project grooming, planning, retros, and bug scrubs. Identify and mitigate risks/issues to enable timely feature implementation and ultimately each product release.+ Accountable for the quality, robustness, predictability and completeness of the teams output, including tracking and reporting software quality metrics.+ Work with leaders from across the business to promote sharing of best practices, to leverage technology and platforms where applicable, and to seek opportunities for collaboration+ Identify and implement improvement ideas to improve effectiveness and efficiency of the embedded software development team.+ Promote professional and technical growth through performance feedback, coaching and mentoring+ Recruit, hire, develop, retain permanent and contract, (both offshore and onsite) resources to enhance staffing plans, and to maintain a healthy pipeline of talent as well as manage department budget and expenses.When we embrace the different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds that make each of us unique, we as individuals and as a company are stronger. QualificationsRequired (Basic) Qualifications:+ Bachelors degree in Engineering or Computer Science+ Minimum of five years experience working with RTOS / Linux based embedded systems+ Minimum of five years of experience leading engineering teams either as a technical lead or a functional manager+ Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the futurePreferred qualifications:+ 5+ years of experience using C++ + Strong understanding of operating system concepts+ Strong understanding of software requirements development and analysis+ Experience working in an agile development environment+ Strong understanding of automated testing and tools, e.g. GoogleTest, GoogleMock, xUnit+++ Knowledge of power distribution system devices, such as relays, controls and sensors is a plusPosition Criteria:+ Ability to travel up to 10%( or up to 25% for individuals who will be remote or at a non-Franksville, WI location)+ Able to identify, communicate and mitigate technical risks and issues+ Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skillsWe are committed to ensuring equal employment opportunities for all job applicants and employees.
