Eatons Fuel and Motion Control Systems division, a part of our Aerospace group, is currently seeking an Engineering Manager to join our team. This position is based at our Los Angeles, CA office.Position Overview:The Engineering Manager is responsible for the mechanical and project engineering team for new product development and legacy product support in Los Angeles, CA as part of the Eaton Fluid Motion and Controls Systems division.The incumbent requires knowledge and experience of aircraft hydraulic components applications. Skills involve managing the execution of new product development programs, support of existing products, development and coaching of team members, resource planning, and supporting responses to customer requests for proposals.This position will engage in aftermarket product upgrades, investigations, supplier requests, and production floor support as required. They will support the Product Engineering Manager to successfully execute on all programs, meet performance metric goals, ensure adherence to Eaton engineering and quality standards, and develop processes and procedures for the engineering team.Successful candidates will be able to independently lead an engineering team and manage internal, external, customer, and supplier relationships effectively. Its where bold, bright professionals like you can reach your full potentialand where you can help us reach ours.In this function you will:+ Lead the Los Angeles and global mechanical and project engineering team to deliver high quality technical output on time, focusing on accountability, efficiency, and learning+ Provide technical guidance to the engineering team; create opportunities for growth and development+ Performance manage and coach high and low performers on the team effectively+ Support the development of organizational capability and technical skills among mechanical and project engineers to support the site and division strategies and initiatives.+ Maintain appropriate training programs to assure continuous learning+ Actively manage team capacity vs. demand and communicate resource capacity risks and corrective action on an ongoing basis+ Document practices for technical standards around best practices and using lessons learned+ Collaborate on the development and implementation of processes and tools for engineering tasks consistent with Eaton Aerospace standards and industry best practices.+ Monitor to assure adherence to defined processes+ Continuous improvement of resource management, productivity, and first-pass quality, including the use of Design for Six Sigma practices to achieve that end+ Monitor and manage key engineering metrics, monitor performance and implement corrective actions accordingly+ Participate in the strategic planning process for the site; support site strategic product and technology roadmaps and lead innovations processes supporting those plans+ Work directly with peers, internal and external customers to develop and support existing productsWhen we embrace the different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds that make each of us unique, we as individuals and as a company are stronger. QualificationsRequired (Basic) Qualifications:+ Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering from an accredited institution+ Minimum of 10 years of experience within aerospace or a high-tech industry with new product development and sustaining product support+ Minimum of three (3) years of experience leading or managing people (direct)+ Minimum of three (3) years of experience in hydraulic actuation components and/or aerospace system components+ Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future+ This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.+ No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Los Angeles, CA will be considered.
