Work you'll do

  • Work with international and domestic government and public sector clients to devise and apply smart solutions to critical climate and energy sector problems
  • Manage teams identifying and directly supporting energy and electricity sector stakeholders while working with senior government clients and counterparts on macro-economic challenges and policy solutions
  • Organize and deliver services on a cross-section of complex projects
  • Actively participate in the development of business and vendor relationships
  • Participate and lead aspects of the proposal development process
  • Improve electric utility customer service operations and develop innovative, market-driven solutions for the energy transition
  • Lead climate, electricity, sustainable mining, renewable energy and/or water infrastructure resiliency in such areas as decarbonization, policy development, regulatory reform, service provision, and improved access to capital
  • Responsible for project(s) financials including development of financial plans
  • Manages day-to-day interactions with clients and internal Deloitte team
  • Displays both breadth and depth of knowledge regarding functional and technical issues
  • Displays leadership and business judgment in anticipating client/project needs and developing alternative solutions
  • Provide counseling/coaching, oversight, and support for delivery teams and staff
  • Actively participate in staff recruitment and retention activities providing input and guidance into the staffing process
  • Focus on managed revenue targets as well as achieving quarterly or yearly sales objectives for new business
  • Lead business development initiatives to grow the climate, energy, and resilience team and the Government practice
  • Manage resources and budget on client projects

he GPS Energy Sector Reform team is part of the broader Supply Chain and Network Operations Portfolio within Deloitte Consulting. The Supply Chain & Network Operations Offering helps clients transform their value chains into a competitive edge. Professionals drive efficiency, improve flexibility, and increase responsiveness by furnishing proactive insights and enhancing decision-making. Teams advise, implement, and operate transformational solutions by providing operational know-how, digital technologies, advanced analytics, and industry-specific hybrid solutions. Teams also optimize operations, product, and material flows, and create greater synergy for the supply network to optimize mission performance.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university required

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future

• Must be able to obtain and maintain the required clearance for this role

• Experience in energy economics, renewable energy development, finance and policy, energy sector reform, or climate change policy

• Travel up to 25% (While 25% of travel is a requirement of the role, due to COVID-19, non-essential travel has been suspended until further notice)

Preferred:
  • Advanced degree in engineering, environmental management, business, economics, policy, or other relevant fields
  • Experience and familiarity with UNFCCC processes and procedures and climate finance
  • Experience implementing climate change and GHG emissions reduction programs for public and private organizations
  • Experience in financial modeling, energy, or project finance highly preferred
  • Experience in power utility operations and utility strengthening, specifically working within power utility companies on commercial and distribution issues
  • Experience or training in , energy transition minerals (e.g. battery minerals) and rare earths, experience or knowledge of mining and resource extraction
  • Experience in system planning and power system modeling as well as experience working with electricity markets and independent system operators
  • Experience mentoring and coaching others
  • Proven leadership skills demonstrating strong judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Experience managing senior-level client relationships
  • Experience presenting to clients or other decision makers to present and sell ideas to
  • Proven experience effectively prioritizing own workload and managing teams to deliver service excellence, on time and in scope
  • Demonstrated ability to write clearly, logically, succinctly, persuasively and in a manner that appeals to a wide audience
  • Mastery of word processing
