As a manager in ICN, candidates will oversee a team working on the Deloitte conflict checking and DESC systems for monitoring independence from attest clients and their affiliates. Candidates will also be active participants in managing the timely update and completion of conflict checks and independence matters/processes, and supporting systems/databases, coordinating quality control processes, and leading consultations with engagement teams related to evaluating the application of conflicts and independence policy, rules, and regulations.

Day-to-day activities include:

  • Managing and providing direction to staff undertaking conflict checking and independence processes and assigned projects in direct support of firm policies, regulatory rules, and professional standards (including participation in hiring activities and conducting performance appraisals)
  • Coordinating the periodic review and update of critical conflicts, risk, and independence compliance data and processes (including process improvement, project design and development)
  • Working on conflict checks or independence issues of complex scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors and knowledge of current regulatory and other developments that may impact Deloitte US Firms
  • Participation in conflicts and independence policy setting meetings aimed at developing guidance to address emerging issues and contributing to the further development of procedures and implementing process improvements
  • Drafting of internal correspondence and presentations aimed at increasing awareness of the independence rules and implications of new U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) rulings
