Senior Program Manager, Neurotechnology, New Product Development

We are searching for a talented Senior New Product Development Program Manager to join our Neurotechnology team. Based in Kalmazoo MI, San Jose CA, or Plymouth MN, This is a unique and exciting opportunity to lead a cross divisional New Product Development team focused on the development of an integrated and intelligent ecosystem for a range of Neuro, Spine and ENT OR environments.

Stryker’s Neurotechnology divisions are looking for a stand-out, dynamic and experienced Senior Program Manager to help advance our mission to advance neurosurgery and transform the lives of our patients. You will play a critical leadership role in a unique cross divisional program to integrate a number of discrete surgical platforms into an intelligent and integrated neurotechnology ecosystem within the operating room.

You will work closely with technology and business leaders across multiple business units representing a diverse array of surgical platforms such as imaging, visualization, navigation, robotics, and powered bone and soft tissue resection devices.

What you will do

Program Management

  • Lead cross divisional and cross functional project teams from early concept design to commercialization of a fully integrated OR platform.
  • Provide overall program direction as related to schedule, cost, performance, and resources.
  • Support and facilitate the development of system functional specifications that fully define the project and product cost and performance criteria
  • You will develop and direct project team members and be responsible for team dynamics, ensuring teams are optimally organized and motivated, developing strong relationships with team members.
  • Create, monitor, and control project plans including: Scope, Schedule / Burndowns / Work Breakdown Structures/ Task Lists / Resources, Business Case / Capital Equipment Requests / Budget, Risk Assessments / Mitigation / Contingency Planning
  • Closely monitor project performance to be able to recommend scope and schedule changes, cost adjustments or resource additions as needed to deliver on project commitments.
  • Provide timely and accurate information and status updates to senior leadership on project health and key issues throughout project life cycles. Provide periodic project progress reports to other functional areas of the company.


  • Leads and supports complex product development for cross functional teams, influencing multiple functional and technical areas of expertise.
  • Hold teams accountable to deliver high quality results with passion, energy and drive to meet business priorities.
  • Mentors, develops and influences across the business, intentionally building divisional and cross divisional relationships.
  • You will manage key stakeholders and provide appropriate and timely communication.

Business Competencies:

  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of the industry and competitive landscape.
  • Partner with R&D and Marketing to develop product development strategies and support the development of project business cases, investment proposals and present to leadership at business reviews.
  • Learn clinical applications and help plan interaction with surgeons and hospital staff through customer centric design and VOC (Voice of Customer) events.
  • Partner with customers, internal and external key opinion leaders to develop user requirements, products and workflows which meet clinical needs.
  • Develop and refine tools, process, and methodologies for project management


  • Expert knowledge of FDA QSR, and ISO 13485 and ISO 14971 requirements

What You Need

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; in an Engineering field (Biomedical, Software, Electrical, or Mechanical preferred)
  • 10+ years of experience required in managing complex new product development programs
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, track and facilitate projects using applicable tools (Gantt, Burndowns, etc.)
  • Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead/facilitate cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated outstanding organizational and technical knowledge

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or other engineering, technical or business graduate degree
  • You will be proficient in both agile product development, and PMBOK program management methodologies, preferably with a Project Management Professional (PMP), or Product Development and Management Association (PDMA) qualification, Certified Scrum Master (CMS)
