The Senior Manager, Compliance Operations leads a team of Compliance professionals and is responsible for managing the development, implementation and sustainment of key operational processes to meet global department needs. The role oversees execution of critical Compliance departmental and operational activities; while meeting all external, Compliance-owned reporting obligations.

What you will do:

  • Collaborates with the Sr. Director, Global Compliance Operations in the creation of the annual global Compliance Department operational plan

  • Oversee the development and implementation of processes to meet operational requirements, informed by global and local requirements

  • Ensure annual plan is aligned with Global Compliance & Privacy risk-based priorities Work collaboratively with Stryker corporate functions (e.g., Legal, HR, IT, Finance) and Global Compliance enabling functions (e.g., Policy, Education and Communications, Monitoring & Analytics, Global Privacy)

  • Manage key Compliance Department and Operational activities including but not limited to:

    • Annual certifications and supporting processes (e.g., COI, ABAC, COC, Advamed)

    • Identify, select, and manage external vendor relationships and contracting

    • Global meeting planning and logistics

    • New hire onboarding support

    • Global Compliance policy management and information governance

    • Ensure timely and accurate external reporting where applicable.

    • Oversee Compliance department SharePoint and teams structure and usage

  • Support PMO and other large complex departmental projects

  • Support Global Compliance Mergers and Acquisitions team as requested

  • Support annual Compliance Risk Assessment and mitigation initiatives and activities

  • Support annual communications plan and change management

  • Support the VP – Global Compliance Strategy, Risk and Operations with annual budget and forecasting needs; ensure responsible spending and tracking

  • Consistently analyze processes, track best practices, and provide recommendations and insight to increase efficiency and effectiveness of processes

  • Exercise independent judgment to make decisions of significant impact to the company

  • Develop strong relationships throughout multiple businesses and regions to foster a consistent and collaborative approach to proactive compliance

  • Maintain high level of knowledge regarding relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards

  • Establish a strong tone at the top and further the department’s strategic priorities

  • Demonstrate well-developed ability to identify issues, engage appropriate stakeholders, complete root cause analysis, and assess effectiveness of solution within area of responsibility

  • Raise awareness of the program and foster accountability for ethics and integrity

  • Champion a proactive approach to Compliance focused on partnership, prevention, and risk mitigation

  • Develop strong relationships throughout multiple businesses and regions to foster a consistent and collaborative approach to proactive compliance

  • Maintain high level of knowledge regarding relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards

  • Establish a strong tone at the top and further the department’s strategic priorities

  • Demonstrate well-developed ability to identify issues, engage appropriate stakeholders, complete root cause analysis, and assess effectiveness of solution within area of responsibility

What you need:

• Minimum of 10 years of work experience required
• Demonstrates knowledge and clear understanding of the required elements of effective Compliance programs and experience with AdvaMed or PhRMA Code and other relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., DOJ Evaluation of Corporate Compliance Programs, OIG Elements of an Effective Compliance Program, Section 8B 2.1 of the Federal Sentencing Guidelines)
• Demonstrates expertise in applying external requirements to key activities and processes
• Demonstrates experience developing and leading large-scale, global initiatives
• Project Management experience with one or more methodologies/frameworks
• Possesses excellent leadership and influencing skills
• Demonstrates high level of professionalism and executive presence
• Able to initiate, embrace and support change in a dynamic and complex environment
• Oversees complex diverse work of significant impact to the organization
• Well-developed ability to show discretion and maintain confidentiality
• Well-developed understanding of business financials and reporting and ability to effectively allocate resources for maximum impact
