What you’ll be doing...

Verizon’s Supply Chain Services is transforming and expanding the Global Strategic Sourcing Group and seeks dynamic sourcing professionals with strong experience in sourcing, supplier negotiations, data gathering and analysis, and managing client and supplier relationships.
A key aspect of the senior manager role is to build collaborative relationships with our internal business partners as well as strategic relationships with our suppliers. This position will lead a team of CSE’s (Category Sourcing Experts) and will actively manage multiple highly visible, time-sensitive activities, effectively interfacing with all levels of management, and efficiently ensuring the sourcing process is complete consistent with Verizon’s policies and goals.

  • Partner with business partners, contract management and legal teams, and serve as a trusted advisor to developing category strategy, objectives and plans.
  • Negotiate and complete key strategic deals, and drive aspects of the complex strategic sourcing process.
  • Lead various cross functional teams (CFTs) to develop Verizon’s requirements and to reach consensus on the business deal.
  • Understanding of budget and planning, as well as drafting necessary language to translate business needs into specific requirements for contract-related documents, e.g. statements of work (SOW), letters of authorization (LOAs), requests for proposals (RFPs), etc.
  • Partner on negotiations, pricing T&Cs, conduct research and provide benchmark data, including conducting and facilitating RFP’s (RFQs or RFIs).
  • Understands priorities, challenges and needs on an ongoing basis, while managing to expectations.
  • Provide direction, leadership and professional development to your team; balance workload appropriately and leverage existing supplier base to appropriately consolidate services.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience managing a team.
  • Strategic sourcing experience (indirect) with consulting services categories or related experience.
  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A degree.
  • International contracting experience.
  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree, or equivalent advanced degree.
  • Six or more years of demonstrated academic and/or professional leadership in Strategic Sourcing (indirect).
  • Strong team leadership and team management skills.
  • Project management experience in a complex multi-project and multi-geography environment.
  • Strong analytical, data analysis & supplier assessment skills.
  • Experience developing resolutions to complex problems that require the frequent use of creativity and flexibility.
  • Strong interpersonal and client service skills.
  • Capability to be self-motivated / a self-starter and work independently.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with experience in influencing others.
  • Any of the following certifications/degrees: Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) from the Institute of Supply Chain Management (ISM), Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute, certifications from the National Contract Management Association (NCMA), Certified Commercial Contracts Manager (CCCM), Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM), Juris Doctorate.
