Job Summary

Amentum IT is currently searching for a Senior IT Project Manager to manage Information Technology (IT) Infrastructure and Information Assurance projects and serve as the interface between cross-functional teams both internal and external.

This individual will, under limited supervision, be responsible for all aspects of planning and management of their projects, working with their project team to develop project plans and schedules designed to successfully deliver the project on-time, within budget, while managing/securing project scope. These projects may be clearly defined or may require dynamic change management to deliver business value. This position reports to the Director, IT Project Management Office (PMO).

As a key member of the IT Project Management Office (PMO), the Senior IT Project Manager will:

  • Develop and evaluate plan and criteria for projects and initiatives; assess feasibility analyses for products, equipment, and approaches.
  • Work closely with other project and functional managers and the IT Change Readiness Manager to ensure all schedules are effectively communicated and solutions are developed.
  • Maintain relationships with individuals and groups within and outside of IT to ensure adequate communication and coordination.
  • Lead or serve on committees and/or corrective action teams; demonstrated ability to influence and manage expectations of stakeholders, team members, management, and external partners.
  • Mentors/supports other IT Project Managers.
  • Proactively identify potential project/program problems or opportunities, analyze the issues using all appropriate resources, develop alternatives to mitigate problems or exploit opportunities, and present analysis of alternatives.
  • Possess expert skills in MS Project, MS Visio, MS Excel, and job-related tools and applications.
  • Track and report project issues and effectively use available resources to rapidly evaluate problems, identify root causes, create corrective action plans, assess impact, and develop resolution options.
  • Strong communicator (verbally and in writing) across all collaboration technologies and able to communicate technical and related budgetary and planning information across a wide variety of audiences and platforms and actively participate on conference calls/meetings to provide input and recommendations.
  • Supports development of procedures for project management and control. Works with IT PMO Director to interpret and ensure compliance with established procedures. May conduct internal audits of other IT PM's project management deliverables.
  • Understands when to independently make decisions and perform actions necessary to correct project/program issues and when to provide recommendations for resolutions to management/project steering committee and implement their guidance.
  • Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology field (MIS, CIS, CS) or related discipline (or demonstrated equivalent) and ten (10) or more years of experience in managing Information Technology projects.
  • At least five (5) years experience in management of Information Assurance and/or Infrastructure projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of & prior experience implementing/auditing NIST and CMMC requirements; able to provide technical and analytical guidance to the project team and project sponsors.
  • Experience with a hybrid cloud strategy & Microsoft Azure required.
  • PMI PMP certification required; experienced in both waterfall and agile methodologies.
  • Effective influencing and negotiation skills in an environment where resources may be outside the direct control of this role.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate team(s) to accomplish goals within tight timeframes.
  • Proven track record working in a global matrixed organization, with people of varied backgrounds, effectively developing consensus on complex issues in a timely manner.
  • Able to manage others performing interrelated tasks across multiple projects/programs in an efficient and effective manner


Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry experience working in the Federal Government Contracting/Defense Industrial Base and within intensive people and asset management environments.
  • Experience in a fast-paced company where resources are lean, & speed of execution is valued.
  • Agile PM certifications preferred.
  • PROSCI Change Management Practitioner Certification and experience implementing PROSCI ADKAR model a plus.
  • May require the ability to pass and maintain a security clearance.
  • Position may require some travel
