What you’ll be doing...

As part of a fast paced Network and Technology organization, the “Manager-Strategic Planning” will serve as an expert technology strategy analyst. You will be responsible for developing technology strategies and strategic plans, and reviewing of technical landscape, including: emerging technologies and players, protocols and new technical specifications, competition, value chain, legal and regulatory implications, and overall technology impact in the marketplace.

  • Lead strategic planning efforts across the Network organization, and drive multi-layer strategies from planning into one cohesive Network & Technology strategic plan.
  • Manage the New Business Development (NBD) Portfolio for GN&T, including coordinating all programs within the portfolio, and managing the overall NBD budget. Work with Finance and Technology Development teams to ensure that resources are allocated appropriately, and manage all reporting processes for the NBD portfolio. Interface with technical teams to ensure all Proof-of-Concepts are executed in line with predefined milestones and KPIs.
  • Drive ideation of new growth opportunities for Verizon, leveraging emerging and evolving technologies. Also Shepherd viable concepts from this effort into and through the NBD program / process.
  • Interface with the Growth Engine, New Business Incubation, and Business Groups to advance viable new growth technology opportunities to commercially viable business concepts.
  • Deliver and maintain a strategic view of network technologies tied to business value and growth opportunities.
  • Develop next-generation technology strategies, and partner with internal teams and leaders across Network and Technology to develop domain specific strategic plans. In addition, candidate will be providing technology support to the strategy leadership of various Verizon business units.
  • Leverage research and analytics of the external environment to understand market dynamics (e.g., trends, size, customer needs, and competitive landscape).
  • Identify new technologies for application areas such as 5G, IOT, Edge Computing, AI/ML, and AR/VR.

In this hybrid role, you will have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

What we’re looking for...

You will need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering or any other related field.
  • MBA or other Business related Master’s Degree.
  • Five or more years of Strategic Planning and/or Strategy Development experience across wireless telecommunications, Network and IT industries.
  • Two or more years of Management Consulting experience.
  • Experience in developing business case and TCO analysis drawing tangible connections between strategy and financial-success metrics.
  • Three or more years of experience conducting thorough Market analysis for various technology sectors and competitive Intelligence across players, competitors and the overall value chain.
  • Advanced knowledge of solution architecture within web and mobile environment. Knowledge of web/internet related technologies, architecture across SaaS, PaaS and IaaS and cloud productivity suites.
  • Advanced knowledge of wireless spectrum, cloud computing, big data and Artificial intelligence, wireless IP networking, routing & switching, mobile technologies / markets, Radio Access Networks, etc.
  • Knowledge of wireless and broadband technology standards (e.g. 3GPP, MPLS, ETSI MANO) and application / Infrastructure virtualization within a service provider network.
  • Strong and extensive experience in strategy development and implementation.
  • Strong strategic skills, technical aptitude, interpersonal skills, program management skills, ability to influence and work effectively across other partner organizations.
  • Verbal and written communication skills with specific experience packaging and presenting information to executive leadership.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.
