GENERAL SUMMARY:

Responsible for the leadership, strategic direction, and execution of the end-to-end facilities & EHS process, including the creation of strategic facilities & EHS plans. Oversees the operations and maintenance of Stryker’s facility at Salt Lake City, Utah. This includes strategic facility planning and day-to-day management; the design, planning, construction and maintenance of equipment, machinery, and buildings; and planning and budgeting for all facility budgets. Oversees the coordination of building space allocation, furniture standards maintenance and facilities expansion/renovation.

This role will have responsibility for mitigating risk in all areas across the business and the individual will need to demonstrate that they have a strong EHS and Compliance background with a proven ability to mitigate risk. This is a pro-active and visible role requiring excellent internal and external customer relationship, commercial, supplier management and people skills, with the ability to influence, train and support staff, at all levels within the organization. Responsible for ensuring the business meets the necessary legislative obligations and drive the continuous improvement of Health, Safety and related Environmental Management in the organization.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Planning/Reporting:
    • Responsible for the planning of future facility activities, budgets, projects and company event.
    • Responsible for sourcing and maintaining all relevant facilities equipment and services
    • Accountable for cost, schedule, quality and end result.
    • Provide monthly report summaries of department activities in the areas of EHS performance to align with corporate requirements
  • Operations and Maintenance:
    • Hold overall responsibility for EHS & facilities operations.
    • Oversee operation of all building systems, outside services, grounds, custodial services
    • Manage issues involving building service issues, including parking, heating/cooling, security and fire alarm systems.
    • Maintain data management methods, procedures and reports for all facilities functions.
    • Responsible for Receptionist, customer-facing activities
  • Vendor Performance:
    • Maintain Best in Class performance, but not limited to: Café, Janitorial, Landscape, Equipment Maintenance, Pest Control, Vending and Security. Oversee the process of qualifying and managing the performance of the vendors, suppliers, service providers, consultants and contractors.
  • Security:
    • Oversee the establishment and maintenance of Security and associate SOP’s.
    • Provide direction that is consistent with Corporate standards.
    • Ensure security equipment maintenance and operation effectiveness.
    • Ensure document destruction, that provides security of all discarded materials.
  • Environmental, Health and Safety:
    • Work within the establishment and maintenance of work safety standards and proactive safety programs to maintain safe working conditions.
    • Promote strategic programs that enhance Stryker’s’ overall EH&S perception, its effect on team members, the work environment, and sustainability that effects Stryker’s’ social posture.
    • Undertake a site leadership team role in coordinating and embedding a positive safety culture across the business
  • Compliance:
    • Maintain compliance to all EHS, Security, Maintenance and quality system regulations.
    • Undertake and ensure all audits under compliance, technical, quality, health, safety and environment are carried out in accordance with legislative requirements and the company audit plan
    • Maintain a high level of client/customer satisfaction and quality standards.
    • Provide direction, training and development of the EHS & Facilities team.
    • Perform other related duties as required.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Facilities Management or Business Management
  • 10+ years related experience including in senior management of EHS, facilities and maintenance teams

PREFERRED/DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong background in Facilities Management
  • Relevant experience in management of EHS teams
  • Strong leadership, management and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices and ISO 9000
  • Proven track record in Facilities, Operations or EHS
  • Negotiation skills with some ability to influence others
  • Ability to work in direct and cross-functional teams
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to travel domestics and internationally (10%)
