Job Summary

Nuclear Waste Partnership, an LLC of Amentum, managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as an Energy Manager to join our Engineering team located in Carlsbad, NM.

The successful candidate will manage the organization’s efforts to promote responsible use of natural resources and protection of the natural environment, primarily by reducing the use of utilities and operation of facilities. The individual utilizes various tools and software to monitor building utility consumption to assist with determining energy reduction projects for the organization. Will collaborate with utility providers energy service and equipment providers to coordinate organizational energy and sustainability programs and provide analysis, information and recommendations to applicable leadership. The manager will also be responsible for providing technical analysis, review, measurement, and verification projects. Provides technical analysis/review for energy projects; providing project risk assessment. Perform building “walk-through” and identify energy conservation measures (architectural, mechanical, electrical, etc.) in industrial facilities. Use simulation software and spreadsheets to accurately represent pre and post retrofit building operation. Customizes software and spreadsheets to achieve desired technical results and presentations. Assess and provide feedback on project engineering risk. Provide continuous improvement recommendations on a yearly basis for optimizing existing control strategies. Develops/streamlines existing reporting capabilities from a software standpoint and a usability perspective and investigate new technologies.

NWP Exempt Salary Grade (31 - 33)


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and five (5) years of related experience, or
  • Associates degree with nine (9) years of related experience, or
  • High School Diploma with thirteen (13) years related experience in Energy Engineering is required.
  • Knowledge and experience with HVAC, Control, and Electrical systems is mandatory.
  • Current Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification obtained through the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) or the ability to obtain CEM certification within one year of hiring date is required.
  • Due to the nature of the work, all candidates must be US Citizens.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current Certified Energy Manager (CEM) Certification is desired.
  • Previous WIPP Project experience is a plus.
